The perfect bolt hole. The rooms are simple and well kept, the beds are incredibly comfortable, the rooms temperate, a decent shower, and a cracking breakfast in the pretty pub. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Honestly full marks and we're really pleased we chose to stay here.

Stayed here on a work trip, lovely hotel, nice and clean. Only downside there was no toilet brush so my workmate did leave a little mess. The pub food was great with spectacular service. Think I'm in love with the waitress. Will definitely come again if I'm in the area

Beer was fine, although not a great selection. Ice Breaker pale ale is fine, but a bit of a half hearted effort. But really the food was terribly disappointing. A nice sounding veggie Wellington Sunday roast with seasonal veg ended up being an overcooked Stilton pie, with roast potatoes, mashed potatoes and cauliflower cheese that I paid extra for. I'm guessing the only seasonal vegetable today was potato. My wife asked for a veggie burger with no bun and got none of the trimmings, just a burger with melted cheese and fries dumped unceremoniously on a plate. This seems to be a trend with my experience of Greene King pubs recently. The menu sounds decent, but the result is just terrible. Please stop trying to cut corners and make things cheap. I'd pay a couple of quid more to get food that feel like it was even worth bothering eating out.

Bit disappointed with tonight’s meal, the food is usually good, however my fish and chips was unfortunately over cooked and our calamari portions were laughable for what it cost. Real shame things have gone down hill a bit since we last came.

Family room - My friends and I stayed in the family room this weekend it was very spacious with a pull out bed and double bed. It was really comfy and had plenty of room for all four of us. The hotel and pub were lovely, the food in the pub was really tasty. Would recommended.

Had lunch today here, place & atmosphere excellent, service poor, waited an hour for lunch, and my daughter in law mum order in complete, my daughter in law father received custard instead of cream. Not acceptable. Hence no tip for coming. Please rectify, as love coming here

This pub is awful. Went one weekday to have lunch. But would not serve us as had a delivery. Tried a second time. Staff very rude and unhelpful. Ordered Brie toasty and salad. But came with chips. The toast was so crisp even our dog had trouble eating it. Brie had to be found as could not taste it. To be fair salad did come fairly quickly. My wife had a jacket potato which was only half cooked. Not going there again!

We had a perfect overnight stay at this Pub/hotel. The room was very clean and spacious with a lovely large comfortable bed and a generous en-suite bathroom. The price was amazing at ÂŁ60 for the night. We did not take breakfast as we ate with family. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely recommend this place to other friends and family.

I was staying overnight for work and came over for some food. Ryan on the bar was very chatty and helpful, giving me an excellent wine recommendation. Waitress Abby saw that my dietary requirements were met and the lovely kitchen staff made an amazing beef and ale pie! Will definitely be returning!

My wife and I haven't been here for a few years as we were disappointed before. Thought we would try it again today after a nice walk. Firstly, the beer was good, I had 2 pints of IPA and enjoyed them. We arrived at 12.15, had ordered by 12.25 and our starter didn't come out until 13.10, follow by our main consistently slowly after we had sat waiting for at least 20 mins. The food was slow and they also did not have a few items on the menu. I had the muscles for a starter and after the long wait, they were a but bland, underseasoned and over cooked. For my main I had the lamb hotpot pie, the pie filling had a nice flavour but there was not much of it, the pastry was also nice but there was far too much of it. It was quite hard to eat. The veg were over cooked and the carrots had not been peeled, the Gravy was overly thick and lumpy. My wife had a chicken burger that was over cooked and dry. To their credit, the rosemary fries were nice. Overall we were very disappointed and don't think we will go back
