Hertford House Restaurant in East Hertfordshire

An unbelievably good 3*. Great service, gorgeous decor, good menu options (only had breakfast) and very accommodating for dietary issues.Great for a weekend break or a work trip.One word of warning, which unfortunately is likely out of the control of the hotel; the square outside was a gathering spot for after hours partying and if you have a room facing it, sleep may be a tough ask.

Old traditional building, VERY nicely refurbished. VERY tastefull interior; in rooms and whole rest of the place. I had a lovely stay at Hertford House. Was there for a weekend and staff were attentive and helpful, when I needed to extend my stay and for other requests (thank you Emily, Jane and Vicky). The breakfast is fantastic -you can order from their extensive breakfast menu. Classic brunch options like a full English breakfast, pancakes, Eggs benedict, etc. Breakfast is served in their restaurant/bar which has a a luxurious design. Room was a bit small, and there was a party going on the first night in the basement and you could really hear the singing and music from the room, but it didn't go on too late, didn't bother me too much.

I love this place! It’s perfectly situated right in the heart of the town. From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly, polite and attentive to our every need. Our room was charming with all the facilities we could want for including iron, hairdryer and tea & coffee making facilities. We enjoyed lunch and breakfast at the hotel which were both delicious, the house fish cakes are a must try! By day, the bar and restaurant area is relaxed and welcomes everyone including families and children, then by night it transforms into the perfect night spot with great music! There is an extensive wine list & the bar staff know how to make a proper cocktail! We can’t wait to return. Thanks so much Hertford House x

We didn't stay here but came in for a drink. It was very hot, not very welcoming and disorganised. Needs a visable presence from a manager to join up/coordinate hotel front of house and bar/restaurant staff.

Slightly noisy for my liking. We had been next door for a 70th birthday meal. But very friendly staff, good atmosphere. The highlight was asking the barman about a brandy Alexander. The look on my sister in laws face when one turned up was priceless. Well done for customer service

This hotel was a mixed bag. Service was excellent, the rooms were nice and the breakfast was fantastic. However, the bar on the ground floor plays loud music until 2am. Our room on the 2nd floor was not affected but our colleagues on the 1st floor struggled to sleep due to the noise. Our room suffered from some noise due to the air conditioning outlets being just outside the room. Recommended stay if you know about and are prepared for the noise.

Their website shows a good menu on a Sunday. Turned up today and not the menu on the website, very limited choice so I opted for the roast beef. Awful. None of our group liked the food and it was only lukewarm. Would not go back

Upper class style Bar upstairs, and dance floor and bar on lower level, good range of drinks , i think this is an over 25's . Definitely not a Wetherspoons. Good night out open till 2/3am

Lovely little place to stay for my 1 night getaway. Right in the middle of the town and loads of great bars around. The bar at this place is actually really good, with the cocktail bar open until 1am. They play some good music and the staff are really really friendly. The room was great and really big! However you do need to park at the multi story about 5 mins away so make sure you find out where that is!
