Really welcoming country pub. This is not a gastro pub in looks, but rather a proper old pub. We liked this, as there as now so many gastro pubs, which all look nearly identical. The barman was really friendly and so were the other customers. In some country pubs, you don’t always feel that welcome, but not in this case. The plates and other tableware are very old school and the menu is mainly pub grub, but don’t let that put you off, it is done exceptionally well. I had sausages and mash and it was full of flavour, with meaty local sausages, not stuffed full of filler and added water. Even gravy was also packed with flavour. My partner was also really impressed with her meal, so given the prices are very reasonable too, this places really deserves five stars.

Great food and friendly service. We had a party of thirteen and they accommodated us very nicely indeed.

Gorgeous pub - A proper pub!As soon as I walked in I instantly felt welcomed and safe, I absolutely adored the machine to put bags over your muddy shoes after a walk, it's genius! The lady who owns the pub is simply lovely and didn't mind any questions we asked, we had to ask as we loved the look of the pub and needed to know more and her story was so heartwarming and lovely (she does alot for the community). Only ordered coffee and left with such a lovely feeling

Lovely warm welcome on arrival, good choice of beers and good Pub Food. Don't make the same mistake as me, car park is up the alleyway to the left of the pub. Village hall car park on right was full!

I've been dining here for 20+ years, not been during covid until this eve and wow, forgotten how perfect it is, the venue is sublime, the food even more so and the staff lovely, great vibe, can't recommend enough!!!!!!

On a very quiet midweek lunchtime this place was like stepping back in time complete with unhurried service and a very basic menu. You either love this kind of thing or hate it I suppose...

Fantastic old country pub, not far from Ware and Hertford. Great for a bike ride from the nearby River Lea, and not too far from North London. Good local beers at good prices.

Great little pub, excellent food at a reasonable price. Nice and quite, no music blaring out. Would definitely recommend.

8 of us visited today after a 5 mile walk starting and finishing at this Pub . 6 of us had the Sunday roast , several choices of meat plus 6 different vegetables , all cooked to perfection resulting in cleared plates and no room for dessert . A quiet and friendly pub with good service . Well worth a return visit . Very good choice of food and drink . Well done Julie
