The Farmer's Boy in East Hertfordshire

Disappointing. Booked a Mothers Day Sunday roast because it was rated as ‘no.1 for Sunday roast in Herts’. Dinner was served after a few minutes - so quickly. Beef was grisly and fatty - supposed to be 28 day matured. Roast potatoes were cold and hard. Obviously dinner had been kept warm for ages. Definitely not worth £21.50. Dessert menu was very limited - if you don’t like a pudding or sponge you were out of luck. Will not be returning. Would’ve complained but it was my daughter’s treat for Mother’s Day and she was there.

A most excellent Sunday lunch. Set in beautiful countryside, a very hospitable country pub.

My husband and I went for a meal with friends on Saturday evening. There weren't many people in there and there was no ambience. The food was just about average. By 9pm we were the only ones in there and we started to feel really uncomfortable because we felt like the staff were waiting for us to leave. We paid the bill and left. We were outside making arrangements and saying goodbye to our friends when the landlady opened the door and asked if we were parked in the car park as she wanted to lock the gates. We were home by 9 30pm on a Saturday night!Very disappointing!

I was hoping for a real home cooked Sunday lunch and whilst the components were there, it felt very Brakes Bros suggesting everything was done on a reheat rather than a culinary mind out the back.

Pretty rubbish really! Table booked 4 weeks in advance, not cutlery or glasses on the table. The waitress didn't know what bin end wines even meant or what type they where. Food looked all deep fried even the potatoes. Poor training really shows and feel sorry for the staff as it is the management who should be around as well. Oh and dropped gravy all down my step dads front with no apology or napkins to clean it up. Avoid if possible

Really lovely Sunday lunch. Food was piping hot and plentiful. All served by friendly and professional staff.... Nothing was too much trouble. Definitely recommend.

Really enjoyed the food, beverages and atmosphere at The Farmer's Boy. Must also mention thd staff. Friendly, professional and attentive despite being very busy.

Came here after a 10 mile hike in the area. We sat on picnic tables out front in the shade, on a not so busy country road. We just had some beers but the staff was nice, the beer garden in the back looks lovely as well. They close the kitchen 3-6pm (I think, call if you want to know for sure). Will go back for sure next time for dinner service. I also saw a poster on the wall for live music one night a week which would be nice.

Really lovely pub. Great friendly service and enjoyable food. Drinks superb. Recommended if like me, you happen to be passing by and need to be fed and watered.

Great surprise. Lovely food and plenty of it . Well cooked and good quality ingredients. It must be really nice in the summer, but we went at end of November when it was chilly outside but inside was cosy and warm with an equally warm welcome from the staff.
