Lovely pub with excellent food. The drink selection is brilliant, and great deals (I always make use of 2for1 cocktails!). Service always exceptional, even on a busy Saturday night the servers are so attentive - Liv deserves a particular mention!

After reading the 4-5 star reviews we decided to go to this pub for my mum’s birthday meal and drinks. The food was horrible, not fresh at all apart from salad, Fries were stale and the food was overcooked and the staff was very rude. The table we sat at wasvery sticky. If you want to have a nice meal and drinks avoid this place.

Just not a great experience. Went there last Sunday at 5pm. Not too many people around. Staff were unattentive. More interested in flirting with male customers rather than taking food and drinks orders. Was quite rude actually when all we wanted to do was order food. Food took ages to arrive. Two massive tables in the back, still hadnt been cleared from lunch and stayed that way untill we had been there 60min! The fish and chips was so dry, it literally crunched so much, it felt like we were eating a bag of crisps. The fries were cold. Almost seemed like both had been reheated from a previous order. Burger was ok, fries cold, chicken wings were decent, at least the fries had just been cooked. Such a shame that both service and food were so bad, as the pub is pretty cozy and nice.

Went there with my daughter for lunch for a second time. Food was delicious, reasonably priced. I would give more stars if staff were a bit more attentive and wouldn't overcharge us. But would recommend for a nice meal

What a lovely pub! Very charming and lovely wait staff who made an effort to make my pups comfortable. What an effort to make the place jolly!Fantastic breadth of food options including vegan. The pizzas looked amazing too. Guest ales and so much variety on draught of ciders! All that AND cocktails? The pub garden - in Britain, and winter was positively jolly- and kept dry! Even with little beach huts!We will definitely be coming back

Lovely atmosphere, brilliant food, friendly staff, and very dog friendly, everyone made our pup very welcome. Highly recommended. Will make this pub a regular stop when we visit Bishop’s Stortford.

It’s always a great time at the Star. There’s a good crowd most nights to socialize with and the drinks are great. Georgia who works behind the bar always takes care of me and my friends and is super helpful whenever we need something, she always goes above and beyond for us. 100% recommend trying this place out!

Georgia SeymourI love the star! Favourite pub in Stortford. Has great atmosphere, beautiful lighting, multiple drink deals and lovely staff - but G is the best employee at this place and she deserves a raise! Enjoy looking at her GORGEOUS nails as she pours you a perfect pint or whips up a delicious cocktail.

This place was very quirky and the food was lovely. The only thing I would say is that it seemed that one of the dishes we were interested in which was shown on the online menu and inside hadn't been around for more than 3 months so I do think they need to update a new menu. They are dog friendly which is brill and have outside seating if you wish to use.

The Star on Bridge Street is a great choice for affordable drinks and food in Bishop’s Stortford. The 17th century pub has plenty of space inside and a courtyard outside with a handful of covered booths. We were pretty chuffed with the 2-4-1 cocktails offer (even at weekends) and the extensive gin menu. The food menu is typical pub grub including sandwiches, burgers and pizzas. The Star has different offers throughout the week for a meal and drink for around £10 – what a bargain.
