The Tilbury in East Hertfordshire

A difficult call, it is very close to being 5 stars but the service when we visited let it down. The food was excellent, the drinks were fine but the waiting staff could have been better.The most disappointing thing was to see and hear a member of staff chatting to a friend and arranging their night out when people (and not just us) were waiting to be served. This, unfortunately, spoilt what was otherwise a great evening.I am sure it was probably a one off and certainly other staff were busy serving customers, I will visit again in the hope that next time the service will be better.

One of the best pub meals I have eaten, exception natural service- cannot fault the pub in any way.

The Tilbury was a disappointment for Sunday lunch today. Main course menu very unimaginative and heavily biased towards the less healthy meats. The roast chicken dish comprised a very small piece of very ordinary chicken and a mountain of tasteless Yorkshire pudding with passable roast potatoes and broccoli and a large separate sort of Shepherds cauliflower. Like other dishes, such as the Fish and Chips, the culinary objective seemed to be maximum calories for your money.

My husband and I visited for the first time today for a treat of a Sunday roast...OMG!! It was so good, definitely one of the best I have ever had.. if not the best!! The chocolate marshmallow coconut cake was also extremely tasty... We'll be back!!... Definitely recommend this lovely pub. All staff were so friendly.. Initially we were welcomed by the young man behind the bar..Excellent....

Sensational Sunday lunch.Superb ingredients, cooked to perfection. Very attentive and knowledgeable staff.Add a quality wine list and you can see why this is one of best around.

My wife an I come here a few times a year as a treat. It is still our favorite restaurant. Every time we go it is exceptional, from the foor to the service. If you haven't been before try the Tilbury, you won't be disappointed.

Excellent meal and interesting menu. Staff were very knowledgeable and professional. Truthfully one of the very best restaurants in the area.

Recently visited for dinner and the food was excellent! I believe the menu is seasonal so changes frequently. However, we had the hash browns from the snack menu, cauliflower cheese soup, duck breast main and the tilbury burger. All of it was delicious. Unfortunately we didn’t have room for dessert! Would definitely return.

Exceptional cooking. This is not pub food. This is restaurant food in a pub surrounding. The food was excellent as it always is when I’ve been. 1 star off as I felt the staff could’ve been a little more attentive and also maybe offer some suggestions/advice when ordering. But other than that small detail, it’s a lovely place to eat
