Smiths of Ongar in Epping Forest

Our experience at Smiths restaurant was fantastic for a special anniversary. Great team of serving/bar staff/front of house and amazing choice of food. Allergies were catered for with a great importance for which I was very grateful for. Food was wonderful!Looking forward to another visit very soon

Great time there. I little expensive but very good value for money and great service. Would recommend for a special occasion.

Have been to Smith's a few times the years and have always had a pleasant time.It was my birthday celebration when we last visited and again it didn't disappointing. The food was lovely as usual. The staff were friendly it was a nice that they over heard us talking about celebrating my birthday so they brought my desert on a birthday plate with a candle which was a nice touch.I would say that for mid week visit it was extremely busy which is wonderful to see but it was hard to hear others on our table because there was so much back ground noise. We also had 4 different waiters serving us which made us feel a little rushed. On other visits this hasn't been the case so took away the specialness of the experience, maybe it was just due to the restaurant being full.Over all we had a lovely evening and would recommend a visit, no dought we will return.

Lovely set menu for Valentines day and some very good touches to the meal with the truffles and red rose - thank you for a lovely evening, service as always is impeccable

Food always very nice here, even cater for gluten free including bread which is always a nice touch! Only gripe is sometimes the waiter/waitresses can continually try and up-sell you drinks when you’ve already said no..Would definitely recommend though for a nice occasion - went out of their way to provide a birthday plate / ice cream surprise!

Fantastic Treat, it is pricey but you get what you pay for. The food was exceptional and the staff were friendly and attentive.I really look forward to visiting this place again.

Perfect place to go for a good local lunch/dinner.If I fancy fish then I usually always end up in Smiths.

Absolutely lovely..Our son Russ Pegrum has terminal bowel cancer and at end of life ..He wanted to take us to somewhere special as lobster was on his food bucket list .. Smith's you excelled in every aspect and will definitely promote you .. thank you from The Pegrum's.. xx☆☆☆☆☆xx

Lovely place, beautiful food, steak to die for! Nothing is too much trouble. Amazingly attentive staff, great atmosphere. Very comfortable. Would highly recommend. Had a great birthday there!!
