Seems like a great pub. Food looked good from what I saw coming out of the kitchen, but didn't eat here as we were just passing through mid-afternoon. Beers on tap are a bit limited, mainly lagers and a couple of the Beavertown (i think?) ales. Food seems reasonably priced, although certainly not cheap. Drinks were too expensive. Neck Oil and my daughter's apple juice came to £9. I presume the juice was a couple of quid so the beer must have been £7 which is a bit much in my book. Either that or those were some pricy apples! Up-market clientele. Nice beer garden. Clean and fashionable decor. If you don't mind paying a bit over the odds for your beer, and you're in the area, I'd say it's a decent place to whet your whistle.

Great location, great views, great garden…BUT…paying £10 for a terrible burger really did feel like extortion. The driest, thickest brioche bun- please learn to butter and toast them. Also grab some blackcurrant and lime cordial. I would have been happy paying £3.50 for the burger it was like something from a school fete that a dad was putting together.

So sad to be writing a negative review for this place. I've been going for years - Great location, cosy pub. Unfortunately I attended over the bank holiday and despite being an over 25's pub where you'd expect a bit of peace and quiet, the kids in the beer garden were running around and screaming (honestly at the top of their lungs) from when we arrived at about 7 until at least 9.30pm. We left at that point because the owner and staff didn't seem to care or be doing anything about it. Ended up at the Plume of Feathers where the atmosphere was much better (no screaming children!), and it says a lot as some of the staff from the Foresters were drinking in the Plume too! If you're going to advertise as an over 25s, make sure that's reflected in the atmosphere you create!

The food was not good!! They had a bbq on for the jubilee weekend which was terrible and so overpriced. The burger was £10 (without any sides) and was so burnt, dry and tasteless. The hotdog and pizza weren’t much better. The whole ordering and paying system was a shambles too. Overall, not great service and the atmosphere just felt hectic and not very pleasant. Also, when I went to the ladies toilets there was no loo roll or soap. When I went to the bar to ask for some they just handed me a couple of napkins 🤨

Nice atmosphere (unless you dislike stuffed animals). Men's bathroom has a half bath for a toilet. Bit pricey but not as much as some other pubs in loughton.

3 stars /5. On our 1st visit. Did we feel welcome? 2/5 . Position and outdoors space ? 4/5. All the rest? food and drinks included? 3/5. Spent 70£ for 2, so thoroughly tried this venue. Hoping for even better outcome next time.

Really nice pub, we took our 3 children, 2 small one large and loved it. Wanted to spend the afternoon there, but anyone with small children knows that's not possible. Food was excellent and a good portion size. Great range of drinks fir the ladies. My husband likes ale and they only had one kind at the time, so he was a little disappointed. Otherwise, great atmosphere, good food, great service and nice drinks. I want to be there now.

I haven't left a review for this pub for a good few years so worth reviewing again to say wow I love this pub, my favorite pub in Loughton. Love what they have done with the garden and how they managed the recent restrictions. Always thing of how they can please the customer. I recently attended an event night which was one of the best nights I've had in so long. This pub has class but quirky at the same time, they know how to have fun. The staff work hard to provide a great service and the food is amazing. They provide a good vegan menu. Overall 10 stars!
