The Gatehouse Cafe in Epping Forest

Regularly take out from here when walking my daughter over the abbey gardens.The waiting times for orders may seem long sometimes but it’s absolutely worth it as everything’s made fresh on site and the foods lovely. Of all the cafes in the abbey this has the best food imo. Recommend

Service was outrageous. Staff stopped serving lunch when I arrived that's one reason why I'm giving this review the other reason is that the staff was helpful but I won't go there again!!

Just try the bread pudding it is delicious. Can have takeaway from the window or sit inside. A nice place just next to the abbey.

Had a delicious pastrami bagel with coleslaw. Best bagel in ages outside of New York. Lovely staff to boot. Will definitely be back!

We were looking for a place for afternoon tea near Waltham Abbey and were impressed with the good reviews for The Gatehouse Cafe. We were received by friendly staff. The sandwiches were varied, well filled and of excellent quality. These were accompanied by delicious coleslaw.Super scones with jam and clotted cream were followed by a Victoria Sponge groaning with jam and cream. Each of us had our individual teapots which were refilled as often as we wanted. One has to pre-book afternoon tea here. Excellent value for money and cheaper than anywhere else.

Lovely Cafe! Staff were super helpful and friendly. Catered for my gluten and lactose intolerant needs gladly. Definitely the yummiest gluten free sandwich I've ever had in a cafe :)

Sean and the team are just fantastic. Have visited the Café many times and its our go to place for lunch! Great food, great service and stunning location!

Lovely friendly place for a hot drink after a walk around the beautiful Waltham Abbey Gardens. Here's the view from the wall outside the Café. Delicious drinks and snacks safely served through an open window.

This is a wonderful venue and a really friendly little cafe - so worth a visit!

It was very busy when we visited and as a result, service was slow. However, when the food did arrive, it was very nice and I would recommend The Gatehouse Cafe if you are in the area. Nice location next to Waltham Abbey church and gardens.
