First time visiting today, food was great, staff were really friendly, will defo visit again, what an amazing location, we were late for our booking as it took a while to find, but again the staff were very accommodating, but will be recommending this venue, lovely surroundings, a worthy day out

Fantastic rural pub. Not been there in years (live abroad) and great to see the renovations. Great food and helpful staff

We visited the mole trap today, its been on the radar since it was refurbish.I did have high expectations after looking at the menu online and I must say it was a bit disappointing. The food lack any real flavour, it was presented quite well but in my opinion over priced for what you get.Service started off very well with drinks coming promptly, food was a bit of a wait but guessed they was busy, asked if we wanted to see desert menu and they never arrived after 30min so asked for the bill. Found it quite odd that we had table service and still needed to go to the bar and pay. We was the only people in the restaurant. Was quite shocked not to be asked how the food was and if everything was ok with the meal etc.Not sure I would go back if I'm honest, great garden and grounds. Would be good for a few beers in the Sun, however get better value in the other country pubs locally.

Really nice referb. Staff really accommodating. Wine selection quite good. Food menu acceptable but needs expanding for greater variety. On our recent visit, unavailable specials need to be removed from the specials board. Overall, really enjoyed the location and will definitely come back to try the steak pie.

Been waiting for two hours for roast lunch on a Sunday when the pub is barely half full. I would not recommend this pub at all.In response to the reply below and to add detail to the review: we arrived at the pub at 12.40, ordered our food at 1pm and the roast arrived at 2.45pm. We had been served our starters promptly, but waiting 1 hour and 45 mins for a food order that costs ÂŁ20-25 per roast is underwhelming at best. Whilst the garden is beautiful and big, it was not over busy. Moreover, we were not the only customers who were complaining of a long wait, and apart from the brief apology upon arrival of the food there seemed to be scant concern for the length of time taken to provide the order and the impact on our enjoyment of the day. The pub is in a beautiful setting and has been recently refurbished and looks great. The starters were very enjoyable but the overall experience does not encourage a swift return, especially on a busy summers day.

Nice pub, sitting outside in the sunshine very pleasant. They only accept card payment. For ÂŁ4.95 I had a very poor cloudy pint of beer. As I worked for a brewery and sat on a tasting panel for them, I know what I am talking about.

Really nice pub set in the country, very nice staff, polite etc, BUT unfortunately here comes the but, the food we tried was nice but unfortunately very overpriced for what you get, i cant understand why these lovely pubs can charge that kind of money, they are London prices, surely if you want a striving business you have to be compatible with other places.Only a suggestion but we think there should be a child’s menu as well seeing as they cater for families and maybe a bit more choice on the menu would be good to see.We are not poor and not wealthy but surely these prices should be looked at because £90 for a Sunday lunch with a child was a bit expensive if you don’t mind me saying, the Hawksmoor in London is only a couple of quid more for a bigger roast I’m afraid to say.We got offered cauliflower cheese when we was at the table and was told that would be extra, come on ? Its only cauliflower. My friends wife who is a professional chef was served stone cold sticky toffee pudding that should of been hot, my kids desert was cut in half but i paid the full price for an adults desert, i don’t get it, sorry to say.But again, nice staff, friendly Chef but please be a bit more realistic we are all struggling in this world at the moment, i think £12.95 would be a fair price for that size of roast, only saying, then I’m sure you would attract more customers along with a few more dishes to try.

Not a great visit, won’t be visiting again. I e-mailed them after telling them about it (as our waitress was so clueless she couldn’t even say what drinks they had there was no point in bringing up our issues with her) and they couldn’t even be bothered to reply two weeks later so I’ll copy the e-mail I sent to them below outlining the issues:Good evening.I wanted to get in touch with you with regards to a disappointing visit to your pub today.I want to let you know about the experience that we received so that hopefully you can improve the service you offer to other customers. To start with the food we had today was really, really terrible and really over-priced.For starters, we asked if the risotto came as a starter, the waitress told us that it didn’t but we could have aranchini balls instead, which we ordered two portions of. Once we ordered, we were told that as they were being made fresh, we could only have one portion. I’m not sure why, if they were actually being made fresh, just put two portions in instead on one? I ordered the bread instead which turned up uncooked so I couldn’t eat it.For mains, our party ordered the beef, which was by far the most expensive roast in the area and what turned up was one slice of meat on a plate of vegetables and rock hard potatoes that were shooting across the table when being cut into.As a vegetarian the options were extremely limited and both options were nut based. As an alternative I asked for the beef burger but with halluomi instead of the beef. I got a tiny slice of halloumi, that didn’t cover the size of the bun and I got charged for the 6oz beef burger, utterly ridiculous. The children’s options were also all meat-based too which is not very vegetarian inclusive. Our waitress was very nice but didn’t seem to know the answers to any of our questions and left us for ages without checking in on us (she did apologise for this but still not good customer service) I understand that there needs to be a two hour time limit on tables but if you’re going to provide really slow service from the staff, then that needs to be taken into consideration when customers are paying for a meal and you’re rushing them off of their table. So overall very disappointed with our time with you today and what we paid for the meal.Being local, I would have wanted to return and recommend you to others but after today I’m not sure that I can. I thought that you should know about our experience so that you are aware of what is going on and being served to your customers.Thanks.

Reopened under new management and a major refresh. Great place to eat on a summers day. Can highly recommend the mussels and chips or the garlic prawns on the main course and the cheesecake to follow. All washed down with good beer or a wide selection of wines. Great value.
