The Royal Oak in Epping Forest

Really enjoyed our experience here ... we dropped in on the off chance so weren't surprised that the main dining room was fully booked.We sat in the bar area, which was quite lively, lots going on, tvs showing the rugby and dogs 🐕 walking through and of course kids running about but we loved it.Food was good 2 of us had the roast which was excellent and 1 had a burger ... Nice to be able to get more than a roast on a SundayLovely building, lots of history, very enjoyable x

We enjoyed the Sunday Roast dinner here when we were in England visiting our son. The is an excellent choice of different roasts including lamb which is my favourite and my daughter in law had roasted chicken. Generous portions and the Yorkshire was enjoyed by the family.

Popped in on a recommendation. Great service, warm and friendly staff. Family oriented place. Great outdoors space too (blankets on the chairs!) Didn't eat there however the family next to me were eating a lovely roast. Would come back next time for a Sunday roast.

This is my favourite pub from London I know the place for 4 years ,very friendly staff , I like the food every time ,the garden is lovely perfect for a date I'll say...the live music sometimes is pretty good :)) ,depends who's singing...but anyway you get good vibes in there,especially when people are dancing :))

Server was unfriendly and watch out for the chips offer with brunch. Advertised at £1 but if you dont say handful they give you a portion at the cost of £4. Food was really good.

Friendly local feel, large heated outdoor areas (separate smoking and non-smoking areas). Restaurant dining area as well as main bar. Food on the restaurant menu is as good as, if not better than some of the prime central London gastropubs!

Amazing! The staff was great, you are given the respect you deserve. I attended a memorial service reception and the atmosphere was just super! The food was gorgeous. Highly recommend for any function!

I’ve been going to the oak for over 8 years now and it’s always been such a good atmosphere food has been good and polite staff. My recent experience at the pub since covid has hit has gone completely down hill. The atmosphere seems very stiff like they’re trying to be something they’re not.As for the staff they have an odd one or two behind the bar that are lovely. But myself and friends had food brought up and when we asked which one was which due to each pizza being different we was greeted with the response of “I don’t know who’s is who’s I didn’t take your order” than put the food on the table and walked off…. We had to go get our own cutlery, and sauces. Unable to find salt we asked for some and it was so moist in the packet it come out in clumps.We than asked for a take away box and the lady sighed and said “we’ll if I have one” stormed off to get one without even asking how many was required. When she come back we asked for one more again another response with attitude this time she said “if there is I’ll bring it to you” walked off rolling her eyes again and sighing.Not quiet sure what’s happened with the oak but I will be avoiding going their from now on due to several disappointing visits and going to another local. Family members have mentioned similar experiences as well as other locals.

This is pretty much the perfect pub. It has an excellent selection of beers, perfect decor, staff are knowledgeable and really welcoming and friendly and it has a nice vibe inside and out. Only ways it could be better would be something to entertain kids outside and some green veg with the roasts.

We were lucky to book a table on the day the restaurant menu was renewed. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Add the excellent service of Kelly who had the whole very busy room under complete control and you have a superb night. Give it a go you will not be disappointed.
