Went to the Woodman yesterday with my sister . What a lovely meal . The Hunters Chicken was divine as was the chips and the dessert. Friendly staff. Also very pleased at the prices which don't seemed to be hiked up due to cost of living. I paid more in my home town in Staffordshire and also in the Yorkshire Dale's. People will keep returning if they manage to keep their prices down and the same quality of food. Will return when in the Ongar area again

Lovely Scampi and Chips there. The view is incredibly beautiful. Also, the master brew is a particularly good ale, I’d recommend it highly.

Beautiful country pub 👌 amazing views from the garden. Staff work very hard and are very friendly. The food is delicious 😋Was a bit surprised however that they didn't serve tea or coffee ☕ 🤔

Has been a favourite pub restaurant of mine for many year's now.Excellent food and menu choice of wholesome; starter's, main meals and desserts.Wide range of soft drinks and coffee choices as well as the bar's alcohol drinks.I always have a latte or two after a meal either on the roomy, pretty terrace outside or below that on the vast green seating area....with beautiful surrounding countryside views.Vast car parking space areas, a bonus.Always a pleasure to have a lovely relaxing quiet meal here day or evening, as is to see the friendly staff who go out of their way in attention and detail....in everyway!

Pub set in lovely location but food was not good. Three of us went and all had the roast beef but it had no taste at all.Thought it was just me but we all said the same. Waited a while for the food but was a busy Sunday lunch time.Maybe was just an off day or different chef.

I know I should have said more at the time but was with a large group. Prawn cocktail had hardly any sauce, maybe they had run out, tried my daughter's garlic prawns and must say they were amazing.Chicken on the Spaghetti Milanese was overcooked and hard. Finally had enough when the desert arrived with the pastry hardly cooked and translucent, microwave pinged instead of Merrychef?? replacement crumble was better. Maybe short staffed due to COVID but the final quality check should come from the server, obviously not the chicken but no excuse for the cocktail and dessert.

This pub is set in a beautiful location with fantastic views especially on a nice summer day. The staff were very friendly and welcoming from the moment you walk in & the food was amazing.

Lovely Sunday roast, excellent sticky toffee pudding and great service. The food portions were very big and super filling. The staff were lovely as well.

Lovely drive out to the countryside from London. Pub dated back couple hundred years, nice history connection in the pub. Good selection of food, house specials & variety of drinks from drafts, ales, cider & cocktails. Very good service & following covid rules, social distancing & wearing masks. If weather was good, than plenty outdoor space available & great view of greenery. Reasonable prices. Thought cocktails bit pricey.
