Lovely village pub. Clean, nicely decorated and a friendly welcome. Spent our visit talking to the barman. Would visit again.

Found the Anchor yesterday afternoon on a drive around looking for a decent pub local to where we're staying. Paul the landlord made us feel very welcome, so much so, we booked a table for a Sunday roast today. Paul and his team did us proud. We enjoyed our roast beef dinners, followed by just about managing to share a portion of the Belgian waffles. Now, if you're one of those 'hard to please picky sorts', and you think you're more suited to being a judge on Masterchef, then this isn't your place to eat. Too many folks are too quick off the mark to criticise these days. What you get at The Anchor is honest home cooked pub food, friendly attentive service, and definitely value for money. What more can you ask for? Thank you again to Paul and his hard working team. We will be back :)

Lovely pub. Great atmosphere. First visit, fantastic meal. Many more visits to come

Great place with very reasonable prices. Really friendly service. Lots of great food catering for kids adults meat eaters and vegans. And those waffles..mmmmWith covid the worry is pubs like this will close without or business so go in today and support them. Spacious so you are not sitting on top of eachother.Other amenities are good parking behind the pub which also has an outdoor area.I did not see the aviary with the birds but they have one out back also.I saw some interesting wines as well which I did not get to try because I was driving but looks like the pub owner stocks some interesting wines.I also noticed steak night on Fridays real tempting T-bones on offer. Also they have a quiz night too.I will go again even though it's not local it's definitely best pub close to us when you consider meal quality, price, amenities and atmosphere.

Very good. Very friendly good staff. Food really good. Prices, service food and wine quality compare well with other pubs in the area.

This pub was ridiculous! We went for my grandmother’s 80th birthday and we had booked it for 1pm - waited 20 mins to be even asked if we wanted a drink. We waited over an hour for our food, which came out cold. I sent mine back to be heated up. As we had waited over an hour for the food, everyone was so hungry, so started eating it. We asked to speak to the manager/chef and he came out all guns blazing! He was so rude! He came over and said we should have all complained that the food was cold or not complain at all. He was stood so intimidatingly at the end of the table and argued with us about the food. He was so rude to us, considering it was a special occasion. Definitely not going back and certainly don’t recommend it!

Went for the steak night, had fillet steak was a lovely meal, the young bar staff were very friendly as always. Thank you for a nice evening.

Booked for Sunday lunch having had a lovely meal there on the Friday, only to be told when we arrived there was a problem with the Sunday Lunches, unfortunately there wasn't any ! Was we OK with that, well being hungry what do you say! Okay we sat down and ordered a drink only to see 3 tables served with a delicious looking Sunday lunch!!!! Then we ordered from the "normal " menuI asked if the pie special came with veg, goodness what a question!!Well yes "the home made pie" which had obviously been in the freezer for 6 months did come with veg but the pastry was that hard and the filling had disappeared into the abyss, to be honest the chef did come out and apologise and give our dog some fresh dog biscuits 😉But honestly I'd wish we'd gone somewhere else, embarrassing for the staff and embarrassing for us.Enough said. Oh and apparently it was because the parachute regiment had dropped by that they decided that someone who had booked for 2 Sunday Lunches could do without 🙄🤔😒

Our first visit to this pub with my wife and dog, absolutely love this place. Staff are friendly and helpful and have a nice beer garden. Nice restaurant inside and lots of beer and drinks to choose from. Highly recommended.

Fun night at the pub quiz, great atmosphere and good beer.Quiz hosts are funny and entertaining.I highly recommend this evening. Half of the proceeds go to a charity and half go into the quiz prize pot.
