With the current situation(covid-19)the owners have gone beyond the call of duty with there plan of action. And as always the food is lovely. All they ask is cooperation in there request for face coverage when required. Good job team.

Just had a fabulous Sunday carvery and dessert that was fantastic value for money. We'll cooked food. Attentive, but not in your face, friendly staff. Good company who could want for more.

Date of visit:- 13/01/2019. Excellent meal, excellent staff and excellent service!My husband was on crutches so the owner Andy arranged for one of the waitresses to accompany me whilst I chose both of our meals. There was a great choice of meat, vegetables and desserts with tea or coffee included in the price. The dessert arrived "Masterchef" style although a much more generous portion!Best Sunday lunch I've had for a long time. The restaurant was very busy but nothing was too much trouble and I would highly recommend it.

Food was amazing and the portions were huge so it was great value. The staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. I you are going to be towing a caravan then don't go under the bridge as people regularly crash into it.

As others have already said, the Golden Lion in Stonea is probably the best Sunday carvery in the area. It's brilliantly consistent (I've been numerous times across the year, and each time was equally good), and there's an excellent selection of meat, veg and dessert (the menu for one of my visits is pictured). The vegetables are clearly freshly made (not tinned or soggy), the meat is generously cut for you by the friendly staff, and there's plenty of sauces as well. As you can see from the photo of mine the other day, if you want a large portion you can certainly get it! My only slight gripe is how busy it gets in the bar area at peak time on a Sunday - especially in winter when there's no option to wait outside - but I guess this is just reflective of how popular the place is. Overall, if you're in the fens and want a fantastic roast lunch carvery on a Sunday, you can't get any better than the Golden Lion.
