Lunch on Father's Day in a group of 8. Although the staff were courteous and friendly, the service was very slow and the food quality below average. This was the second time we dined there, after an enjoyable first visit some time ago. But we will not return.

A lovely pub to stop at for food just a short detour off the A11. Beer garden with small play area for kids both toddler age and older. They have a resident dog who is rather big but friendly, so bear that in mind as she wanders freely around the pub and grounds. Food was tasty but the pizza over-crispy, the service rather slow and a coffee forgotten about although they were apologetic about this and compensated with a free drink so they're good at keeping customers happy! Would visit again.

We met our kids and grandson here for an early dinner. Some fish and chips and I tried the rack of ribs. The food was great and the staff were alot of fun to talk with. Would definitely recommend this place for an off the path stop. They are an inn, so rooms available.

Nice meal and friendly staff in a lovely village pub. Nice to see a pub that's still used by locals as a pub and not sold out to just be a restaurant. Would have been 5 stars but the portions where on the small side, they forgot our order for a coffee, could have been asked if we wanted more drinks earlier. But a great place and will certainly recommend and go back.

Seems to be lack of staff, food was on a reduced menu and not very good at all. Long waiting times despite only 6 people in the restaurant. This could be a lovely place, but needs direction & a bit of TLC.

TL;DR at the end.The staff are really friendly and attentative which is always nice. The outside areas are nice too. The food however was where I was a bit let down. Its not bad, at all. Its just not great either. The menu didn't really appeal to me too much. I chose fish and chips which wasn't accurately described on the menu in my opinion (was written as fresh *fish name* with chips and peas etc), making me think perhaps it was a pan seared fish or something grilled. The nice waitresses confirmed it was battered fish and chips. My girlfriend and I both had it and both felt it wasn't very flavourful and there were also several bones in mine, but my girlfriends dish was literally FULL of bones. I know it's a fish, it has bones, but the idea is to debone fish when you're prepping it to be cooked. Considering I do this myself at home I was pretty shocked to see such a common practice be skipped at this pub/restaurant. I also find the portion sizes are too big. Not something I'd usually complain about - I love food - but it was too much. The lasagne someone else got on our table, only half of it was eaten by that person and they also gave her a bunch of chips with it? Never had fries with lasagne before as I think lasagne would be more than enough. No comment on how that dish was though as I didn't ask the person on my table how it was.Overall, its fine if you're into pub food but the flavours let me down, as did the dish itself, and so I likely won't be back soon.TL;DRNice staff and outside areas.Food wasn't great, fish in the fish and chips is full of bones. Portion sizes too big.

Waiting staff friendly , good atmosphere. How ever the food was not great. Do not order the ham egg, and chips. Ham processed like out of a tin, tasteless and jelly like, eggs hard and chips cold. Apart from that a good evening was had with family

Absolutely wonderful atmosphere and the food is absolutely marvellous! The people are very respectful and the service was on time. You can feel the country side and family vibes inside! I absolutely loved my times and would rate the Golden Boar Inn as one of the most underrated places in the whole of the UK! Must visit!

Friendly staff, but service was very slow. Food wasn't great, was mostly cold, lasagne dry and garlic bread stale. Chicken burger was lovely, but I think I was the only one who had ok food. Overall a disappointing experience π

Booked a room for one night and had an evening meal.Don't think the rooms would stand up to scrutiny on "Four In A Bed" but they're good value with everything you need. We choose to stay here because of the good value rooms, great food and really friendly staff. Definitely recommend if you're in the area, even if its just for a meal.
