California Tavern in Great Yarmouth

Lovely pub with pleasant smiling staff. Decent selection of beers/ales etc. Excellent food with ample servings. Would definitely visit again.

Although the food was lovely the main lady who greeted us let the whole place down. We had a group of 3 adults and 4 children and she was not very warm when we arrived. When we explained we need to pay separate she huffed and repeated it back to us “so you need to all pay separate” and then fobbed us off to another staff member who seemed very slow! It took 15 minutes to process the entire order!! Then we had a drink spillage and I asked for some napkins to help and again she huffed and passed me off to another staff member. It’s not somewhere I would visit again, even though we all enjoyed our meal she made us feel like we were a nuisance (the child down were well behaved!)

Visited tonight, lovely dog friendly pub, all 3 of us enjoyed our meals, staff were welcoming. I was a little cold and wished I'd brought a dog bed as floor was tiled in dog friendly side of the pub,but l do spoil my dogs so could be just me not wanting my dogs to lay on cold floors.

Went for Sunday lunch. Great value for money at £9.95 for carvery. Excellent choice of veg. I had the roast pork, crackling snd trimmings, as did my children with half portions. Although they didn't seem to mind you going back for a top up. We didn't, because there was plenty, including a lovely cauliflower cheese. Partner had veggie option (£10.95!) which was Quorn sausages, so not overly imaginative but she was very happy with the veg.Very friendly staff.We had soft drinks but the bar looked to have a fair selection of ales etc.We would definitely go back.

Nice carvery, choice of 4 roasts and all the usual trimmings. Nice beach close by to work off the calories

We found this place by accident, and glad we did. Food was great, staff were friendly and helpful. We will visit again if we holiday in the area again

Had a nice meal in here last night, good food, good size portions and friendly staff with a lovely atmosphere, what more could you want 👍

Visited last week whilst on holiday. Lovely pub. Friendly staff. Great selection of drinks. Food was good and reasonably priced. Impressive array of specials available in addition to the main menu. Enjoyed it so much we returned later in the week.

Unfortunately this establishment was closed due to covid. However the facilitieshere have all the indications of a good pub. Plenty of parking, outside and inside seating. Undercover shelter for smokers.Dog bowls left, meaning dog friendly. There is a gated small children's playground. Another plus it it is placed right at the top of the path which leads down to the lovely Scratby beaches which aredog friendly. Do give this place a try when it opens again. Must be totally devastating to have to closed a business in season. Good wishes to owners for speedy trade again.

Great pub in a great location. 1 minute from a great sandy beach. Big car park and very welcoming staff as well as a great selection of beers. Clean toilets and big dining room. Play area outside with kids slide and climbing frame.
