Toby Carvery Captain Manby in Great Yarmouth

It was very very hot in there and was like a sauna and made feel very unwell. When we arrived we had to wait in a queue and the staff seemed flustered and there seemed quite a few people waiting. When come to queueing for the meal it was so long and took ages and was so very hot and didn't seem to have any air con which for anyone with any breathing difficulties could be dangerous. The chef was courteous and was quick and even got rid of plates that he looked at that he thought still looked dirty. I was told the mash potato was coming in a minute which it did not instead more roast potatoes came out even though there was quite a few there, when the mash came out I put it on plate I was expecting it to be fresh and hot but when I got to my table and started to eat the mash was cold. when we got to our table with our meals there was no cutlery and was hard to find staff to get some. Even when finished the meal trying to get staff to pay for the meal took ages, really need to get more staff. The only thing I can say that was really good is the refill drinks and that it was cold.

Outstanding. Family of four had a carvery mid week. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. The service was also excellent. Shame we live 2 hours away else we would be back all the time!!

We came as a family of 4 for breakfast as we're on holiday in great Yarmouth. We have visited many Toby carveries over the years and this experience was by for the beat for breakfast. It was as if it was actually cooked by a chef not just a cook. Everything was fresh and very tasty. The cheesy potatoes actually had cheese you could taste on them, the sausages weren't just mush and everything was hot.The restaurant was a little warm but that's to be expected with the weather and we'd rather be too warm then too cold with Aircon making our food cold.Staff were very friendly and helpful.Will be returning.

Great atmosphere, excellent service, clean facilities and plenty of parking. Last night May 7th a friend and myself had the most amazing cheesy mushrooms with garlic bread and for £4.99 for 2 portions you really can't complain. My compliments to the chef.

My husband and myself were regular visitors to the Captain Manby until we had a really awful meal about 3 years ago. I did write and complain but the management at the time were not interested in what I had to say so we decided not to visit anymore. We received an email a short time ago offering us a meal with discount. Judging by the amount of people there, I think this email was circulated widely. The meal we had was such an improvement, we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant had had a makeover, everything looked cleaner, vegetables fresh and nicely cooked also the meat. Maybe we will become regular customers again!

There was a special deal on the day we visited and we both had the king size portion. The food was very good and the portions very large. Very Friendly, helpful waiter service. We will definitely return.

Nice place, great service, Just restaurant was very warm, was a little uncomfortable. Carvery was nice overall but beef was not great fatty and had lots of gristle. Lucky I picked 2 meats the pork was great, could not eat beef. Will definitely be back just skip the beef next visit.

We have a caravan in Gorleston & my husband & I always have a Sunday roast in Toby’s, we’ve tried various other places, but their choice & quality is nowhere like what we get in Toby’s, the food always looks & taste delicious. I am disabled & use a walker & always find the staff friendly & obliging especially offering to carry my meal to the table without being asked. I always recommend going Toby’s to my family & friends when they stay in the caravan & they all agree it’s lovely!!!

We were bitterly disappointed. Chef had bad attitude and ruined a family meal. The 17 year old waitress was lovely and tried to help.Update..Neil Dean, the manager, was quick to reply to me. I contacted him and he listened to my concerns about the family meal. He reassured me that the matter was dealt with straight away and remembered the day. He didn't hesitate to rectify the situation along with clarifying that if the customer requests something they get it. I was most impressed with this professional man and made me feel heard. Along side he had meals prepared as way of apology. It was back to the standard that we have always enjoyed and thanks for the pigs in blankets, they didn't go unnoticed.
