We popped into this pub for a bite to eat. The service was nice and helpful, the pub looked lovely and traditional on the inside, very smart and had a log fire aswell. The food was nice enough, my partner enjoyed his burger but the fries and onion rings were very oily. We'd visit again if we are in the area because it was nice enough for a stop off :).

Really great location and looks really good, however food was a letdown. Photos look good but my Cajun chicken was overcooked and felt like chewing charcoal, Gammon Steak with gravy was full of sugar and the BLT sandwich as described by my son the Tesco Meal Deal is better. Unfortunately we shall not be back..it's a shame as the place and location is really good. Have given 3 stars for its location.

Recently celebrated my father’s 80th birthday at the Battleaxes, they kindly accommodated a party of 12 of us and let us enjoy the occasion with a great menu, drinks and friendly service!Even brought out the cake for us too!Highly recommend dining here for any occasion

I cannot recommend this pub / restaurant highly enough. The food was freshly cooked & service was amazing, we were a party of 5 and the dog! All staff were very helpful, cheerful & genuinely couldn’t do enough for you. They even have a dog menu & bowls of water for your furry friends. I’ve not been able to rate a venue this highly in a very long time. Top job Battle Axes! Thank you.

Lovely vegan mushroom ale pie and spiced aubergine & beetroot burger! Pie crust, filling, chips, and veg were all nicely done. Burger pattie was awesome, too. Must come back again! Mocha torte (Ve) was good but maybe not on true same awesomeness level as the pie and burger. Or maybe I was too stuffed to enjoy it in full…

I will start with the good parts, the place looked clean and very cozy, there was a big parking which is always great advantage. The food presentation was really good too, however that is the end of it. uninterested staff and very rude which was the biggest disappointment for us.The food quality was good, I personally was happy to give 4 stars to the food only, not the service for sure however, the rest of people on my table all voted 3 stars for the food and 1 star for the service.Would I go back? With this level of service, No.

Perfect dog friendly pub...with dog menu. Friendly staff and food was delicious. Will definitely be returning.

We had to find a place following a memorial service the group had attended. 14 places were needed and they said they could deal with that. The staff were wonderful and made our day into a celebration. The food was great and with a different order for each person they did a great job in getting it all right. Our thanks to them for a really fantastic effort. CJ.

Nice restaurant with decent food and atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Sunday roast, steak, fishnchips about £12-16. Great service too.

The Battle Axes is a lovely pub with great food, friendly staff and a warm welcoming atmosphere. The Christmas menu had a nut roast for vegetarians and it was really tasty, as were the carrots and the rest of the meal. The staff were lovely, we'll definitely visit again.
