Absolutely loved our stay here! I chose this hotel to get ready for my wedding reception and the staff were so lovely and accommodating to our needs. Booked online for Afternoon Tea but were told quite abruptly that we had not booked as we were not on the list! Place was empty so the lady agreed we could sit down. We chose outside as the day was glorious. Garden furniture was dirty and rickety. No table cloths or place settings or anything even though they told us they would ‘set a table up outside’. Tea choice was nice, sandwiches ok but very plain. Cakes were poor, very dry and small, apart from the macaron which was nice. Scones were very good and the only highlight of this afternoon. Felt like we had been forgotten about as nobody checked on us. Had to go inside to find staff to order some water. We were only offered more tea after we had finished everything and were ready for the bill. Service charge was already added, which we felt was rather cheeky seen as service had been very poor! Not worth the money tbh.

Fantastic warm friendly customer service. Everyone works really hard together as a team to make the business work. The food for breakfast and evening meal impeccably cooked with love and attention to detail. Fresh ingredients and bursting with flavour. I have a curious demanding toddler, and staff were incredibly warm friendly attentive helpful accommodating at times when it could get embarrassing for me. The rooms were clean and beds incredibly comfy. Staff always smiling and ready to help. Great peaceful homely safe family feel to hotel. Clearly hospitality industry has been under tremendous pressure over the pandemic and offering support and recognition desperately needed at these times. Once business has returned back to pre pandemic levels I wish them all the success; the hotel and grounds could benefit from the extra income to improve and maintain estate. However, I gladly overlooked all this as the service, beautiful character property, green front lawns/ancient trees, cleanliness, customer service, quality of food, and value for money, great service was all 100% and 10/10. Well done to the staff, they looked like they were really happy working there,and this was reflected back to its customers who equally had lovely stay because of this!!!

Visited The Manor for mother's Day as a group of 4.We had a nice welcome and I must say the staff were very helpful and polite.However the afternoon tea was average, minimal sandwiches made with cheap white bread, the decor of the place needs attention, the table we were showed to had filthy seat covers, odd size tables paired together with different covers, the restaurant was freezing with random electric heaters dotted about which didn't make any difference...It was just a shame as this was supposed to be a special occasion.... At £35PP we certainly won't be visiting again.

We had a lovely cream tea as a treat for our 80 year young dear friend. The food was delicious, the service impeccable, the staff so attentive. Thank you for making our outing so pleasant!

Difficult to score. Firstly, the dinner was excellent. Breakfast was poor (bacon was like cardboard and coffee was tasteless. The room was supposed to be "Superior Suite". The carpet looked dirty with stains on it. The armchair had stains and also looked grubby. There were cushions on the bed in the same state as carpet and chair. There was no usb point to charge phone. The bathroom fittings had chunks out of the units. I could go on further but I think you get the message. If my room was superior then I'd hate to stay in an ordinary room. Definitely not worth the cost.

Nice hotel. Poor attitude from a minority of restaurant staff let it down, although good response and reward from manager when mentioned. Restaurant is overpriced. £30 for a rib eye. Ordered med/rare, arrived medium. Tasted like it had been seasoned way before cooking as the salt had removed most of the juicyness.

Disappointing - had guests over from Denmark and thought this place would be a nice treat compared to normal modern hotels. This is not a 4 star hotel - I’m afraid it’s just grubby inside and rooms are very dated and in desperate need of refurb. Carpets in main areas are stained and on first floor main lobby smells damp. Rooms are the same whilst clean just feel old and grubby as there are stains on the floor and bathroom is very dated etc. For the price I would avoid as there are lots of places which are far better. There was also no atmosphere and staff all seemed just too keen to finish their shift and get away.

I think the best description of this hotel would be 'All that glitters is not gold' I loved the drive into the grounds, it was like approaching a stately home or in this case an old hall. I drove into the front car park and could hear that lovely sound cars make when driving over a gravel drive. The front of the hotel is fantastic an looks like a 16th century Hall although I think its more replica than original. The old world theme runs inside as well with a fabulous fireplace opposite the front door. I was on business and my B&B had been pre booked. I booked in and although a pleasing experience with a very nice young lady I was surprised when she asked for my credit card. I am usually asked so that they can register it but this hotel wanted to take £30! I didn't argue and its supposed refundable but thought that's quite a decent uplift to their cash flow, £30 from every room. Anyway I collected my room card and went on tour to find my room which appeared to be underground but ended up actually just on the ground floor. Unfortunately the room was poor, it was clearly in need of refurbishment. There were cobwebs in both the bathroom and main room, there were large chunks of plaster missing out of the wall, paint work was dirty and in some parts missing, carpet and headboard had stains on, cashbank was broken, bathroom mirror had damp damage and a faint smell of damp pervaded the air. It wasn't all bad the TV worked well and there was a good selection of different teas although the first tea I made when I came to put milk in from a sachet it had opened slightly and came out in a lump ugh. The bed was fine, not Premier Inn but adequate and the bedding was clean along with the towels. I didn't dislike the room but it was in desperate need of a refurb. I rang and asked for some fresh milk and collected it from the nice receptionist then went to bed. Woke up and went to breakfast which was excellent, the food warm, the variety good and the tables scrupulous clean. I did ask for a bowl of sugar but I think it must have been the waiters first day and he couldn't understand what a bowl was but he was pleasent, as we're all the staff. I booked out easily although nothing was mentioned about my £30 I am sure it will be refunded. To be honest I would ask to be booked somewhere else nextime and I wouldn't pay my own money to stay which is a shame really because it could be lovely. Oh but I can't go without mentioning the toilet in the room..... It is a multifunctioning bidet with heated seat and a blow dry facility, if you stay here you must try it. Maybe I would go back just for the toilet seat experience...

We enjoyed dinner, bed and breakfast at The Manor on Boxing Day. The bed was luxurious, dinner and breakfast delicious, and the building looked so beautiful at Christmas. Our 3 year old was even given a Christmas present. Smiles all round. Thank you Joanna and the team
