Beautifully executed expansion & renovation of an old pub in delightful location but only very recently re-opened so still a few kinks to iron out in its operation. E.g. slow delivery of lunch after ordering and burger was only tepid on arrival. However, good quality food and friendly staff so with a little more practice, should easily make 4 stars, maybe even 5. Will go back in a month or two's time to try again.

Came here for mother's day since they have refurbished and re-opened. The decor and layout looks absolutely amazing having extended the restaurant and created a new garden space at the side. They've certainly invested a lot into the venue to make it a success. The restaurant is in the process of a 'soft launch', so they have a limited menu and was relatively quiet, so the management, bar staff and waiter were extremely attentive and friendly the minute we arrived. On to the meal itself most of the people in my party chose the soup, but I had the mushroom, stilton and horse radish starter which was really tasty. I was worried that the Stilton would be overpowering, but wasn't the case. The soup apparently varied in temperature, with some people having it pipping hot, and others being luke warm.Main course was a little disappointing as we all had the roast lamb or chicken. For £18 I was expecting a bit more of a wow. It arrived with one Yorkshire pudding, three potatoes and a carrot and a side of green cabbage and green beans. The chicken tasted lovely, but I prefer my carrots a little al dente and this was a bit soft. The dish needed more Yorkshires, some swede mash or pigs in blankets just to elevate it a bit more. Didn't feel it justified the price. The dessert was the highlight. The ginger sponge cake with coconut ice cream was an absolute delight, and so was the chocolate fondant.Overall the venue looked beautiful, set in a great picturesque location. The staff couldn't have been nicer, but the main course was a bit of a low point in the meal, which was a shame. Therefore I'm giving it 3 stars. I will go back once they are fully open and the expand the menu.

Absolutely superb. Have been here three times since it’s renaissance, the renovation is really sympathetic to the old pub whilst completely capitalising on its beautiful location and the outdoor area is incredible, definitely not to be missed on a sunny day.The restaurant area brings the building together really nicely. The staff are incredibly helpful and attentive whilst being both warm and inviting.Today was the first time we’d eaten there are we were not disappointed. With two of us being vegans we only had one lunch choice, however we would go back just to eat the Jack Fruit Shawarma, I’m not sure other options would tempt us from this! Plentiful, delicious and nicely presented.Do not hesitate to visit this place, we’ll definitely be back.

This pub is beautiful and on the expensive side because it is more of a destination pub than a cheap casual boozer. The staff are so friendly and always helpful with food/wine recommendations. THE FOOD IS INCREDIBLE!!! I dont know what they put in the steak sauce but I have never had a sauce like it! The beef bourguignon was so tender you could eat it without teeth! They do cater for other dietary requirements but probably best to check if you have allergies as the owner told us the menu changes according to what is fresh and seasonal on the market.

Beautiful place. Very professional staff.Child friendly.A great place to come to wine and dine. Even for a quick drink. While the wine list is on the slightly higher price, the choice of wine is top tier.A definite and highly recommended venue. Please maintain the no dog policy to maintain the prestigious feel.

Went last night, didn't take photos but 4 of us really enjoyed our meal. The menu looked very limited at first and different from your normal gastro pub fayre, but our choices were delicious and we all said we would definitely return. Nice touches like being given iced water as you sit down and a free bread basket. Friendly service. Highly recommend.

Love the style of the new pub! Service very good but a little under whelmed with the food - such a shame! Will try the evening menu and keep fingers crossed it doesn't disappoint

Had a wonderful meal here. The pub has been recently refurbished to a very high standard and is a very nice place for a drink or meal. For our meal we had the got smoked salmon and a chicken terrine to start. My salmon was absolutely delicious and nice and moist. My main was the pan fried chicken with greens and fries as sides. The chicken was delicious and served on a very tasty bed of celeriac purée and some sweet roasted leeks. I always find the quality of sides a good indicator of quality and the greens were well cooked but with a bit of bite and the fries were hit and crispy and not at all greasy. My wife had the beef bourginion which had a delicious smoky flavour.Unfortunately we were too full for desserts so they will have to wait for our next visit, which will be soon.
