Toby Carvery The Oaklands in Hertsmere

I love this place. My family and I had King size roasted for lunch. The food was amazingly delicious. They also offer pork crackling for free! All staffs there were very friendly and kind to children. Large space which is good for family who has to use a pushchair.

Popped in on Saturday, always a reliable choice, you know what you get. Normally I don't tend to give big chains 5 stars, unless something exceptional, at this visit it was our server Kelly, she was attentive, friendly and hilarious, she made our time there 😀 thanks Kelly. And yes the pork and apple yorkie wrap she recommended was delicious 😋

Had a great tasting meal as a Family of 5, 3 adults and 2 children. All of our food was very fresh, hot and tasty. It's the fist time my children ate all their food and enjoyed it.The staff were great and very friendly. Will certainly eat there again soon.

Really happy friendly helpful staff. The carving chef (Sunday 20th March) was so happy and chatty. The carving deck was fresh, the meat was cooked to Absolute perfection. The vegetables were perfect. It's the best carvery I've had. Really enjoyed it.

Love the roast. Massively improved. Its something where you go "ooh I fancy a toby." Definitely got a better chef then they had a few years back. Waiting staff is friendly and attentive too.

Excellent service, food choices and quality. Usually go to the Aldenham one, but made a lovely change as the atmosphere, decor, cleanliness, all catering team very friendly and professional at all times.💪👍👏Good old Sunday roast carved in front of you and self serve as much veg as you want. Can even go x/large plate for a small surcharge. Good vegetarian options. Megga lush desserts as well.

Very busy when I went there for Sunday lunch, but I got a seat very quickly. The self-service carvery is very good, with 4 different meats and lots of vegetables to choose from. Don't go there expecting any real ales.... Recommended.

So this is expectation vs reality. Got here at 10am. No mushrooms, no hash browns, some shriveled eggs and I'm sure other bits missing. Plates were not overly clean. Toaster burns the bread and throws the toast out the back?? Think there is a part missing. I'm dairy free but no margarine so had to have butter. No worries though because you have now run out of white bread! Had to tip the urn to get hot water out (H&S). No choice of milk. No veggie sausages. Chef polite and helpful, other staff not so much. First time for a Toby breakfast and will be going back to Harvester in future! Not great, not impressed. I do not recommend.

Or though it was Very very quiet, the staff were helping so were the chefs when they did fresh eggs 🥚 for me.. definitely will be Back here In 2022

We came for a Friday night dinner at 6PM. It was quite empty and there wasn’t a queue for the meats, although some of the vegetables looked a bit dried out.The food was good and the prices were decent. I got the roast pork bap, which had quite a bit of meat in it. My husband and his parents enjoyed the carvery.Service was a little slow in the beginning, and then as the restaurant started filling up closer to 7PM, it got even slower. This is when the queue for the carvery begins. Part of it is due to people waiting around to be served. There should be a bell or some other system in place so that the carver knows when to come out.Despite the slow service, staff were polite enough, and it was one of those occasions in which we were happy to sit around and chat/digest while waiting for dessert and coffee.
