Va Pensiero in Hertsmere

Manager is rude. Staff not friendly. Overpriced. Pizzas are average. The garlic pizza bread is tasty.We felt unwelcome and spoken down to from the moment we entered the restaurant. We wanted to enjoy a birthday celebration but by the way we were treated we would much prefer to give our business elsewhere.

Meatballs were bit dry, sauce was nice felt fresh and vibrant. The pizza was okay sauce was a bit watery so the base was a little soggy that being said it was cooked. Also happy to have a pizza where the cheese is toasted, it rare these days. Loved the toppings. Not bad.

Brilliant food! Went for dinner with the wife and absolutely loved it. We had a 3 course meal and wine. Bruschetta for starters, Regina Pizza and Pollo Alla Creama for Mains and chocolate profiteroles and Banoffee Pie for dessert. Amazing! Photo of dessert attached. Will certainly go again.

Amazing, really tasty food for the whole family. Great service. Desserts are to die for. We loved everything we ordered. Will definitely come back!

We can't fault the place. We hadn't booked and found us a table straight away even though they busy. Service was attentive. The dough balls and pizzas were gorgeous. Came to the table very quickly and cooked to perfection. We will 100% be back for dine in and take away.

Always heard great things about this restaurant so decided to book it for my daughters birthday with a group of my family.Got to say……wasn’t impressedOn arrival everyone was friendly and helpful but throughout the meal we had to go walking around looking for staff because no one was out frontHalf of the table (there was 8 of us) enjoyed their food and said it was nice and the other half said it wasn’t good.Everyone who had the Calamari said it was rubbery and the batter was really over cooked - it was a chore to eat itPizzas wernt homemade (well didn’t taste like it anyway) which I was really gutted about think I ate 1 slice and just left the rest, I’ve made better pizzas at home. It also had oregano all over it which I’m not a fan of (they should put this on the menu) they did kindly offer to remake it but I declinedHowever the lamb chops were really nice and all the pasta dishes were tasty and well cooked.My daughters ice cream came out twice…..one had sauce on but the one she had already been given didn’t have any (this wasn’t an option)Was all just a bit inconsistent.Overall it was…..Ok…..I’ve had/experienced better. Not sure I’d go back.

The whole place is like so romantic in the sense of serenity and decor.Very large portions of excellent Italian food, plenty of space around the tables.The wonderful lady who took our order was very helpful, polite and welcoming! Yummy big plates of breakfasts!We visited for the first time since lockdown and it was as fantastic as ever. I’d highly recommend Va Pensiero you love great quality food and a friendly atmosphere. Great for veggies too!

Lovely Italian Restaurant, delicious Italian food, nice people. Definitely recommend this place, if you are around.

We last went a few years ago. The food is still exceptional quality. The halloumi is the best we've tasted still. And the spaghetti also.The service was a bit "off" this time. Whilst dividers are up and they clearly are cleaning between customers, it was packed and very noisy. The staff were busy and didn't really give the friendly service one would expect.Great food and indifferent service means we may for elsewhere. Shame. As the food is great. But it's not put us off indefinitely. Just for another time.

I adore this restaurant and I’m really pleasantly surprised by how they are operating post-covid.Changes have been made for safety and social distancing, but it hasn’t effected the vibe and experience. We all love it there.We went for late lunch this week and it was wonderful food as always.The staff are very friendly, especially to my 3yr old who had around 9274 questions 🙄🤣.They’re a delightful business and I’d recommend them over and over.Oh, and the food is incredible yet not super expensive.🙌🏻
