This was a shocking, disappointing take away, so bad I had to leave a review. And I want to make a complaint at the standard of food.We use to love the sultan Indian in Stives years ago but knew it had gone down hill a while back so we don't normally use them but we thought we would try here again as someone told us it had improved again, oh how they were wrong. We are regular Indian eaters and this was so bad...First of we got a knock on the door, great we thought food was on time. A rude delivery driver didn't even say hello just looked at me with evils and passed me a bag, I said thanks he didn't say anything and stormed off. This made me feel horrible. I was thinking okay , I can live with it if the food is nice..We then opened the bag to get the food out onto plates and the sauce just looked oily , It was small portions and just cut big bits of onions and peppers, hardly any sauce/curry. I thought it looked bad but thought ild try it, this has to be the worst curry I have ever ordered. It didn't taste of anything. It was a chicken dupiza, the chicken was fine, not dry but the rest was tasteless. It left a horrible taste in my mouth and was just really was rank. The popadom was ok and nan was just standard. The rice tasted weird and everything was watery, I had to leave loads of cut up random onions and big bits of pepper that tasted weird, this is so unlike me to leave food, especially with my favourite food!Very very very disappointed. The sultan use to be a great Indian with friendly staff. What has happened. I feel robbed .

We have been very well received by the owner Junaid who provided us with impeccable service. The food was also lovely. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for quality and affordable Indian cuisine.

I under stand its new yr eves. I ordered at 6.30 the guy on the phone said 30-40mins. I came to collect my takeaway at 7.15 ish and still had wait a further hr in the restaurant for my takeaway. There was no mask wearing by any of the staff and delivery driver's. There was more and more people waiting for food in the restaurant. One gentleman got bored of standing and pulled a chair out. Albeit the food was good and we enjoyed it eventually.

Got a takeaway from here as a celebration and it was fab! Great value for money, friendly service, fantastic veggie options and they even adhered to my request to use my own containers. Will definitely be coming back!

Don't often bother writing reviews, but after experience last night just can't help myself. As a local in St Ives my friends and I have been going out for a lads catch up every Thursday for years, we usually eat in PR Masala, Montaz or Zzohanna for currys, all are better than here (even though PR I think is currently listed as zero hygiene rating, although my friends and I haven't felt bad eating there the last several months and have known a few of the staff for years).Anyway, we ate here at the Sultan years ago(when kushiara existed) and it was nice, so we came last night for a change on our regular lads Thursday night out, place was dead and cold, no music no atmosphere, waiter I think had to wake the chef up, toilets were freezing cold, washed hands only to find their towel machine has ripped towel dangling from back of it that's probably been that way a long time & doesn't pull out, so place not maintained well & left in bad state of repair.Same decor it's had since - well forever really, not maintained well at all, front door even had piece of folded up cardboard wedged at side before and after we arrived to stop it blowing open that fell out when we walked in & the waiter/owner put back in behind us.As others have said not the biggest portions, food is bland compared to elsewhere, but the absolute worst thing was that all the food was barely warm!I've never had a congealed cheesy peas side before, or luke warm curry, it should be hot, don't even know how you can serve food that "meh", as even a microwave would've made it hot.Waiter is friendly but "doddery" think he's been there years so maybe he's the owner, felt really weird though as we were eating at the first table as you walk in, he just sat under the TV at reception seat a few feet away facing us, not reading a paper or doing anything, just sitting there.... watching us, felt weird.Young lad chef popped his head up to kitchen door window a few times to check if he could have a nap again or go home, definitely didn't have much washing up to do as I think the dishes were all cooked in bowls in advance and probably just left on the side to defrost then served, that's how un-hot the food was.Yes bill is illegible, my eight year old son writes nicer, we just chucked cash down. Now, you may not die eating here, you may not get ill, but Jesus Christ it's gone downhill over the last decade & you may have a dodgy Bangor Belly in morning or not sleep well! But if you enjoy it then lucky you.We won't make the mistake of going back anytime soon.

The menu is good, with a variety of dishes not found at other restaurants. The food was very tasty. Spicy hot enough without being too hot. The only problem was the timing of our order. I'd rung at 6:15 for a collection at 8:00 but, when I arrived at 8:00, I had to wait 15 minutes until my order was ready.

My partner and I ate here because we saw it on Meerkat Meals. The service was a little slow considering only two tables were in use. The food was okay, some chicken was not edible due to large pink areas. My partner enjoyed the majority of his meal.We had two drinks each, I had still water (incorrectly given sparkling when drink was topped up) and partner had 2 Cobra's. We ordered two starters, one each, after being ask if we would like popadoms. Then two mains and 4 sides. The bill was illegible. It also does not line up well so unsure what cost what. The menu advises our meal would be £47.70 before the 241 discount and £36.25 after. Upon closer look, the bill is clearly altered and we were charged £51.20. The waiter did not understand much and brought us the bill, after showing him the app of 241 offer, with items crossed out. I would check your bill thoroughly if you have the chance - we unfortunately didn't get much from the waiter and could not explore this.

I eat here, 50 odd times a year. Always delicious meals and great portions. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Being an Indian food lover, it’s by far the best. All vegetables are fresh, and I have never been disappointed.
