Great pies, the pub speciality, and a really attractive pub, traditional on the outside, refitted inside, with lots of events and a supply of real ale

Lovely room comfortable bed, everything you need for a nights stay. Enjoyed an evening meal in the pub too

Room was a little tired however, I cannot fault the cleanliness. The bed was a little hard but that is not a fault just a personal préférence. I slept with the window open and was not disturbed by noise. A very pleasant room. The staff were amazing, very friendly and always had a smile. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone it is a super place to stay.

We had our wedding reception in the function room and it was fantastic. My father-in-law did a reccy of all the local pubs and found this was the best one. Steve the landlord was super helpful and accommodating and it was all very affordable and the food was great. Really friendly and well run pub

Lovely place to stay. A warm welcome and clean rooms. Would have given it 5 stars, but our only snag was the emergency light in the room we were in lit up the whole room in a green tinge, making it hard to get to sleep.

Very disappointed at the fact of no breakfast, even though this was booked .we were told at the last minute. The room was clean but the pillows on the bed were terrible you really need to bring your own. No staff there to help during the night

You won't get breakfast with b&b as advertised and it might be a good idea to bring your own pillow 😉

Booked a private area for my dad's 70th yesterday and we all had such a good time! The staff went above and beyond for us so extra thanks to Mary and Grace for their help and kindness. Lovely food and drink, good value for money. I work in customer service myself so I know how difficult the job can be sometimes and how nice it is to get positive recognition. We found no faults at all. Beautiful cosy pub, thank you for having us 😊🍾🥂

Totally chosen by random, as meeting friends at a halfway point. We were well looked after, excellent table service, booking was easy and the pub is easy to find right on the main road side, with ample parking front and back. Great value cafeteria, good 4 cups out of one ordered for 2. Lovely starters, would recommend the goats cheese salad .. roast dinners, choice of lamb or beef, which I'm told was very nice .. but .. half a pepper filled with savoury rice ... for £13 ! Came with 2 roast potatoes, tiny piece of broccoli, and lovely yorkshire pudding. So ... nice place, great service .... but a tad over expensive... maybe being from the North we aren't up on prices down country !! But, with no other veggie option on offer .. it was a bit of a veggie let down.

What a lovely place!! We stayed at the Black Bull for two nights. On arrival we were welcomed and shown to our room, given instructions on how to order breakfast and shown a resident entrance so we didn’t have to walk through the pub with the children. Our room accommodated all four of us and was immaculately clean. We had our evening meal in the pub on our first night. The service was brill, the food delicious and the sun was shining so we could take our puddings out into the garden. Breakfast was perfect, fuelled us for the day and again brilliant service, care and attention. We had two comfortable nights sleep. We will definitely return and recommend to our friends and family. Thank you so much for an enjoyable stay.
