Went to this little gem after wandering around for a while asking places if they served food on a Wednesday evening. The service was amazing, would highly recommend going along just for the friendly staff! I went in a group of four, three of us having mains and dessert with one having coffee and dessert. The food was delicious. Good portion sizes and fair prices. The interior was very fancy, very clean and tidy with a hotel feel about it all. The toilets are also very clean and tidy with working doors that actually lock, toilet paper in the dispensers, and plenty of hand soap available. I will absolutely go here again if I find myself in St Ives in the future.

Absolutely wonderful dining experience. From the get go, the staff were on point, ensuring we felt welcomed from the get go. Our waitress for the evening had a really nice attitude, seemed like she enjoys what she does and that's great to see.I had the Lion Beef Burger, it was meant to come with pulled pork but i substituted it for bacon. No regrets, the burger was beautiful. Perfectly cooked, pink in the middle, juicy and well seasoned. It was served with Skinny chips, definitely home made, came with some coleslaw and onion rings. This dish was delish! Would order this again. For dessert, I had the Sticky Toffee Pudding and wow oh wow, can't fault it - moist, rich, warm and served with ice cream that melts perfectly with the toffee. Well worth the cals, my hips don't lie.I urge anyone visiting St.Ives to come here, was amazing.

Very attractive place and well decorated inside, it was a good atmosphere. Staff are friendly, place is very clean. I wasn't staying but wouldFor some reason they weren't serving food to visitors but they were to pre-booked parties which was odd, a lot of potential customers were turned away.I have an issue with the price of the drinks, pint of beer and a pint of cider ...10.40 is not good value

The bar and restaurant are lovely and it has been very tastefully decorated. The staff were helpful and considerate, but the food was awful and expensive. We went for a Sunday roast and the meat was virtually raw and very fatty, definitely not a good cut! I literally couldn’t eat it. Sadly, we won’t be going back because we did explain to the waitress but nothing was done about it.

Lovely hotel, great staff. Bed very comfy, but need to do something about pillows, they were hard and flat, need replacing with better quality asap. Great breakfast. Would have been 5 star if better pillows

Lovely place and the service was pretty good, the food however was pretty awful, especially for the cost. We ordered roasts and got two small fatty pieces of meat, three of the tiniest rock hard roast potatoes, no roasted veg as was listed on the menu and the only other veg was boiled peas and carrots, for the price we were very unimpressed and unfortunately won't be back. We did mention to our server at the end of our meal and he did apologise and suggested we took the service charge off but there was nothing wrong with their service! In the interest of fairness this was at 630 in the evening and we had children that needed to eat so didn't complain until the end of the meal and we did eat it, hopefully their roasts are better at lunch time but if you offer them all day you should get the same quality no matter the time.

Food Allergies- they don’t cater for ! After a call to ask about dairy free, was promised they had vegan ice cream. Instead they bought the dessert out with nothing on it. Dry as. Friend asked for a gluten free cheese board, they just took the crackers off. Only 3 bits of broccoli and 2 parsnips as veg on the roast. Was hard and cold. I’m amazed by the other reviews being good ! Won’t be going back

Extremely nice venue, relaxed ambience and friendly staff......However, £16 for fish and chips which were extremely disappointing let the whole experience down sadly. Fish batter was crisp, but fish inside was clearly just run of the mill frozen....not nice white fluffy chunks of fish you'd expect, the chips were chunky and home made but were not crispy in the slightest, and were firm in the middle. Spent over £60 here with food and drinks, but very disappointed, certainly won't be going back.

Excellent from arriving to leaving. Fabric clean room with added extras. Great food compliments to the chefs. Staff are a credit and manger Dominic always welcoming. Thank you we will definitely returning. 😀

Spent a weekend at the Golden Lion and it was one of the best hotels I've stayed in for a long time. The hotel spotlessly clean and there has been some real thought and attention to detail put into the decor. Little touches like the chair covers matching the window pelmets and the stack of suitcases forming the reception desk. Breakfast in the morning was spot on and we also had an afternoon tea and dinner which was also superb. In the morning Jason and Victoria looked after us exceptionally well and in the evening kat was nothing short of amazing. High recommended and we'll definitely be back.
