We ordered the chicken curry and seared tuna steak. The meals arrived after a 30 minute wait with no advance warning of any delays. Both meals were well presented and the plates hot, however the curry was far spicier than my partner would have liked and the chicken was over cooked. My tuna steak was also over cooked and I did not enjoy eating it. I then complained to a member of staff, saying we were not happy. They collected our plates and took them away, but made no apology and did not return to offer any compensation or alternative meals. I then spoke to another member of staff, who took the time to listen with empathy and apologising profusely, gave us an immediate refund without quibble. I have had meals here before without issue and will return another day to see if standards of service and food have improved.

Food was excellent and the staff were first class. Loved the village pub vibe - we don’t have that in Australia!

·

Excellent friendly local hostelry. Very good food served with smile. Delightful olde world village location. Hope to go back again soon.

We had a family Christmas meal here. Half of our party got stuck on the A1 in traffic and arrived 30 mins late, the staff, front of house and kitchen staff delayed our meal and could not have been more helpful. The food was hot and very tasty, excellent all round. I would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant to anyone.

We had the Christmas menu, and the food was very good. I especially like the prawn, salmon and crayfish, starter, it was very nice. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Lovely Old English traditional pub with a wood burning stove in the beamed bar area. Classic Sunday lunxhes on offer when we were there but also interesting selection of lighter snacks & baguettes. Service staff on the ball, a place worth returning to

Booked a table for 19.30. Arrived on time slight wait to be seated. 10min wait for orders to be taken. Drinks arrived. Food arrived 20.55. No apology until I asked where food was and then just told that it was coming and another table had been waiting an hour and a half ......so should I feel lucky????!!So disappointed with the whole experience. Unacceptable service. We did get a drink on the house but only at my request. I should not have paid the bill in full but did.....more fool me. Would not recommend

Food was very nice and can't fault the staff or the feel of the pub. Only issue was the amount of flies in the dining area. Really off putting

Great food and service. And unlike many pubs this one caters properly for vegetarians. We visited twice this week once outside then we returned to eat in the restaurant. The food is first class. It is all freshly cooked and tastes amazing and portions very generous. The staff are lovely and service very good and friendly. Good selection of decent beers and wine etc. Would highly recommend and will visit again when next in the area. Both times we visited were during the week and we took a chance but they obviously do get busy so worth booking.

We went to have dinner on a Wednesday evening. The food is good and tasty, though the service was a bit slow and we had to wait for the bill. It turned out that the person who is responsible for that haven't done it yet - it was a bit uncomfortable as waiting with 2 toddlers is not the best. Also, some staff didn't seem to be friendly. Not bad, over all. :)
