As the venue of choice to celebrate our recent engagement Arlingtons made us feel very special. Private dinning in the Darwin Room provided the intimate dinner we desired.Kate was exceptional in waiting on us, with the perfect balance of checking everything was OK without being intrusive.Peter the owner gave us a brief tour of the history of the building and was very exceptional in personalising out visit. We felt like we had been there every week for the past 10 years. We had the share plates menu, each dish was full of flavour and with 4 dishes there was more than enough food for the two of us.The bill was slightly more than a standard restaurant. But this was not a standard restaurant and we were more than happy with the food and service that we considered it to be a very reasonably priced place. You get what you pay for, in this case we paid for quality.Thank you we will be back.

Incredible food and great service. Nothing was too much trouble. Made my birthday a very special one indeed and couldn't have been more attentive on a work meal a couple of weeks prior. Would highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate planning another big event here. Thanks!

I haven’t been here for a while and ventured in following what appeared to be a newly owned and newly painted cafe.It was a midweek lunch time and there were only two other tables filled downstairs which didn’t help with creating an atmosphere. Despite four members of staff visible on the shop floor it still took ages to get served and when we were served the order was quite begrudgingly taken. Waited ages for our order and to be honest when we did get it, it was bland, very ordinary but most of all, forgettable. We will go somewhere else as it was not good enough for a return visit. The staff need to be more welcoming and the food better. I appreciate in today’s climate it is difficult to stay positive but with so few good cafe venues in Ipswich this place should be throbbing.

We weren't particularly impressed with the food but when we mentioned it we were impressed when the chef came out to explain why it was cooked the way it was (we found it over cooked) and that the waitress took time out to explain some of the history of the building.

Had a lovely lunch here of coconut and chickpea mussels with masala fries. Delicious food in beautiful surroundings.

Good choices on menu and both of us enjoyed our meals. Will go again when in the area.

We popped in early afternoon for a light lunch. We picked three of the sharing plates to share between two of us. We did expect all three dishes to come out at once and for us to have our own seperated plates to use but this didn't happen. This may have been us having the wrong idea of what sharing plates is. The food was very tasty and for £18 for three plates it was a reasonably priced lunch for two plus there was enough us to enjoy a light lunch. The staff seemed to be on the shy side. They were very polite but didn't really engage with us. I know Arlingtons hasn't been open long in it's new guise so this will probably change after time.I'm sure we will return as Arlingtons has always been my favourite restaurant in Ipswich.

Food and wine excellent. A little quiet when we went but the palm court room is beautiful.
