The Nelson is a hidden gem of Ipswich. Managed superbly by Emily and her amazing team. Service is ran with a terrific cohesion. Proper home made food that is cooked with love by Beata. On top of that is a tremendous selection of drinks. What more could you want?

A very old and attractive building. Plenty of cross beams supporting a low ceiling making for a cosy atmosphere. I'm not sure about those beers served via gravity dispense. They come out a bit flat and lifeless.

Fantastic, i work in hospitality so am a real critic, but was really impressed with this place, the food, the service, the atmosphere top notch. Will go back. I have never had a roast dinner to this standard.

Was served by Courtney tonite false rude and arrogant. To cut it short asked for a drink which she pulled then left under the tap and left me waiting for while she served three locals one of which she was in un aware I was drinking with ,she then gave him the pint she pulled for me to him 😡😡if your a local sure this is a great pub if your passing buy keep walking as you won’t be made to feel welcome in fact totally the opposite !!!!!! Don’t bother going here

It's a pub with ok beer. Although i only drink the Adnams Mosaic there because the rest is lager or cider. Lovely friendly staff though. A nice, proper craft ale would easily make this 5 star.

Booked at last minute when visiting Ipswich & was so pleased I did especially as it’s an Adnams pub. Really proper pub & welcoming decor. All the staff were spot on with service & friendliness. Great food (roasts) & just right atmosphere.

Been here a few times and rated it, nice food, even stayed loyal and helped out the business by ordering takeaway roasts during lockdown. Placed a reservation 2 days ago for today, and this afternoon they've called us to cancel our booking as they've taken a large group booking and now can't accommodate us! Jess (I think) that phoned wasn't interested and cut my wife off when she tried to speak, very rude. I understand a large group will be worth money to them, but you don't cancel the bookings you've already taken with barely any notice! Now our dinner plans are out the window. It's a real shame, but won't be returning to them, and possibly not to the others in their chain if that's their attitude to their customers.

A pub with atmosphere, good beer, good food and friendly staff. Ale can be straight from the barrel and is well kept. Meals are reasonably priced and well cooked, children and dogs welcome. Only downside can be noise from the road outside. Small beer garden at the rear and plenty of parking near by. Watch out for the zealous parking wardens though, they don't like you parking in the wrong place!

Great little pub right in town centre and only 10 meters from the marina. Great food and beer, the special is 3 ales for £9. During covid, lunch runs until 2, then opens back up for dinner. Need to order a meal with drinks while in Tier 2.
