Mermaid in Ipswich

Food was lovely. Nice carvery selection of really tasty vegetables and beautiful meats. Desserts were well presented and consistently good. Friendly staff and no overcrowding inside.

Rooms are wonderfully comfortable with divine beds and pillows, larger than "normal" TV screen and adequate bathroom. Breakfast was generally very good (apart from cold beans) but carvery was poor (very limited vegetables which had dried up due to standing for hours - no roast potatoes at all, a few peas and carrots, so really only cauliflower cheese (but I'm lactose intolerant).

Friendly staff, good in-house-made items. Good atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit to relax while in town.

First visit in 5 years and what an improvement. Last time we visited the food was horrible but alot has changed in 5 years. The carvery was one of the best we've had in the area, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was buzzing. Would now recommend this place and happily visit again. Keep up the good work!

Met some friends at the mermaid for a lunch date.We all have little ones in prams( plenty of room to have them near our table)Had nice fish and chips and kids meals were fab tooKind gentleman behind the bar Curtis brought our drinks over as we had hands full with babies :)Becky was great servicing our table. Myself and partner had a busy day at work so decided to not cook and chose the mermaid being only a few miles away.5 stars for Nicky who was a great host, smiling and even though I was fussy and taking time to choose my food she was very patient.loved all the food and it was very hotThank you mermaid

Been coming here for a while, food is normally pretty good, carvery is very good.However, last Saturday when we went my daughter got a hair in her food. We didn't make a fuss, I had a quiet word with Curtis who apologised & replaced the meal. Unfortunately, the manager who Curtis made aware of the situation, never came over to apologise or offer any discount which was surprising & disappointing. She acted like nothing had happened, not good customer service for repeat customers.

really nice to have a gluten free menu. the sausages were really nice and so was the chocolate tart. However the food was served luke warm,. was offered to have it warmed up but was hungry so just ate it. my husband had a curry and this too was luke warm.

The Mermaid by Marston Inns definitely gets 5 🌟 from us 👍🏼👏🏽 The food is amazing, the staff are all welcoming and helpful, the vibes and atmosphere is relaxed. The added bonus is that they have a nice little hotel attached with very comfortable and clean rooms, perfect for when you want to have a mini getaway with family or friends! We're definitely coming back again 👍🏼🤗

Nice and clean, efficient. Good breakfast and good choice of meals for lunch/dinner. Carvery suffered a little from being kept warm for some time but that was more to do with the time of day we ate.
