Food could've been better. Likely could've gotten better elsewhere at a wetherspoons. Waited nearly 2 hours for the order to eventually arrived. No food at a restaurant should ever take that long to come out. They really need to improve their speed of service as well as the prices. Atrocious

I truly wish that I could rate this establishment zero stars, I cannot put into words how atrocious our visit was this Sunday afternoon.The barman coughed in my face without putting his hand to his mouth and proceeded to charge me a little over £5.50 for the worst pint of Peroni that I have ever tasted.In the two hours that we were there they never attempted to clear a single table around us. Eventually my partner, whilst queuing for 18 minutes just to order a drink, asked one of the bar staff to remove the dirty plates from the next table. Said bar staff wandered over and looked at the filthy table, huffed, and wandered off back to two other bar staff chatting and looking at their phones.I would sack every single one of them, bone idle is an understatement.Stupidly we ordered some snacks, onion rings, frozen and processed, dirty fries, poor quality with chili sauce on them, cauliflower bites, inedible.The amount of people that left the building because they could not get a drink in a timely manner was astonishing, you have to queue up with people queuing to order food.The menus were absolutely disgusting, covered in sauces, sticky, filthy, and not once did I see a table being sanatised in my two hours here.Clueless.Dogs are not allowed inside but OK in the outside seating.As for your response, what kind of hilarity is that... The majority of the staff that I witnessed do not know the meaning of hard work.

I would rather eat carpet got the 8 Oz steak and was the worst meal I have ever consumed in my life the chips were stone cold, 4 people got the same steak on my table and couldn't finish it, the plate was caked with black build up from the poorly washed plate that was coming off onto the ""food"" they served us do not go here unless you like the taste of dirty carpet

Gives a bad first impression tables available but debris from previous diners not cleared, this applied to about four possible tables and it looked as if they had been vacant for some time.Found a table without discarded crockery on it but which had obviously not been cleaned, ordered food at the bar giving table number (Curry was not available 🙁).When food arrived we rather thought that the table might get a quick wipe over but no.Food probably value for money but the chicken on the Chicken Skewers actually tasted of nothing and had a decidedly odd texture, the only real flavour came from the BBQ sauce!I wanted to like The Gatehouse but we will not be going there again, a place best avoided unless you are desperate.

Food is okay, you literally get what you pay for. Had a roast, the potato mash tastes like smash, from the packet. The gravy was definitely from the packet, tasted so chemically. The beef is gristly and grey, didn't eat the carrots and cauliflower because it just tasted of nothing when I tested it. My partner had a 12oz steak, we asked for well done, recieved medium rare and pink and bloody on the inside; it was a thick steak but you could see they only cooked it on the one side, like the chefs couldn't be bothered to turn it over. The Guinness tasted like flavored water. The bar staff are lovely. But that kitchen and menu really needs revamping. Such a large menu and for what? Honestly think it's best to have your smaller menu, have your dietary needs, but have better quality food.

4 stars because of other people's experiences. I had the sizzler (half chicken and chips) not on a skillet though which was a shame. 2 kids meals, pizza and nuggets both fine. The issue was some uncooked chicken on a meal and the sausages looked like coal, rare steak cooked medium. Otherwise the rest of the party enjoyed theirs. Cheap and cheerful, check your chicken though 😋.

The food here was really nice to eat, we went for an Xmas meal. Staff where lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. The only downside to it was the booking system. We had 2 people who couldn't attend due to covid and cancelling their meals and paying for ours was difficult and time consuming. The area was spacious and the venue was very accommodating for small children.

Good lager on tap. Food cheap and cheerful. You get what you pay for so don't order a £5 steak and expect it to melt in your mouth. Friendly staff.

This place is great for a family meal. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. There is an extensive menu catering for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free. The kids menu can please the most fussy eaters and there is always the ice cream. The food is good, plenty of it and prices are great. There were nine in our party on a Sunday afternoon ( we booked beforehand)and the food arrived quickly. Would like to see a little less chocolate on the desserts menu as not all of us can have it or like it.All in all a lovely afternoon spent over great food with the family. Will definitely be returning.

Good selection of vegetarian food and it was fantastic value really decent food and love that half is adult and half is family so not had to be near screaming kids! Halloumi and chips very crisp, not greasy. Staff are friendy and place is clean.
