The Golden Lion Hotel Bar in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

Arrived without being able to park outside, single traveller with my dog, had to find a local car park, took three trips unloading my car, was then told their car park at the rear was full, I really think they need to be more upfront about the total lack of parking as it cost me an extra £16.00 for a two night stay, and a lot of traipsing back and forth to the car, if I had been aware of this, I would of booked a different hotel.I had a family room which smelt a little of blocked drains or mould, double bed was uncomfortable and was unable to eat at their restaurant both nights as that was also fully booked.On a positive note, the staff were very fresh.

Just went for lunch today and was surprised the bill came to £42. A hot dog and a steak came to £20, so a large white wine and a pint of beer came to £22,????? Otherwise a very nice place and the food was good.

The hotel ,food and staff were all great. Some of hotel a bit dated but all clean and comfortable. No complaints at all. Certainly glad I'd ignored some comments on trip advisor.

The lady on reception was great and the main bar was good, but the lounge area needs updating. We paid extra for a sea view and we did indeed have this but out of a very small window on the top floor. (take note if you have mobility issues, there are no lifts) The room was also very cold, we prefer a cooler room but this was almost too cold for us! Our evening meal was the Cajun chicken burger, the chicken was very dry but apart from that it was ok. The buffet breakfast was good but no mushrooms on both mornings of our stay. Overall our stay wasn't what we were expecting from such an iconic building, and I think the owners are missing a great opportunity to make this establishment more in keeping with it's heritage and unfortunately we won't be staying there again.

Wasn't very happy with the place.Paid £15 extra for a room upgrade, which got us a side sea view and precious little else.very cold ..radiator didn't work ,a 4 foot six bed, very much small telly, poor bathroom.We paid £90 for one night, no breakfast, plus £15 for upgrade (which was refunded when we complained).Don't think we will be returning.

Great for a pint with beach view. Parking at the front but limited. Sports TV, big screen for who likes watching. The food is 50/50. I am sure they could do better. Have to always ask for extra guacamole. Only a portion of a teaspoon is served with a nachos. Crispy Squid a bit too hard, lasagne good but too grease. For what you get the prices are reasonable. The restaurant/bar inside needs a bit of love (seems a school canteen)

We ate outside. Dog friendly - lots of water bowls. Menu limited especially for veggies but it came quickly enough and the setting (outside) was fabulous. Lovely sea views.

Had a most wonderful stay, clean room with a nice view in centre of town got it 4 stars, but it got 5 stars as the customer service was above and beyond 5*, all staff made you feel so very welcome all are so very help full.The manager, reception staff and night porter were all truly amazing in their customer focused approach. I have stayed at 5 star hotels many times and gave 3 as they treated you like a commodity they had to accommodate and just did not make you feel welcome. I rarely give above 4 stars but this was truly exceptional.Thank you,

Stayed for 3 nights first night heating on all night could not turn off. Problem fixed next morning. Came back from day out to find bed not made towels not changed. Asked at reception and was told you have to ask.Not overly impressed staff at reception quite stressed. Breakfast was again okay. Very expensive for a 3 night stay.

Food was great, dinners were really nice. Our room was adequate but so cold we had to ask for extra blankets and were quickly supplied with extra duvets - it was a really windy weekend but our room had single glazing and the radiators were not sufficient to give heat to the room.
