Absolutely loved this place.I'm a solo traveller so it's always a little nerve wracking trying somewhere new.The girl on reception was brilliant. So welcoming, extremely helpful and explained lots of the facilities available, like the cinema, and the tea/coffee lounge.I took the upgrade offered (for a supplement) at check in, and the room was simply stunning. Well worth it.Lovely doggy friendly hotel. I ate in the bar first night - the fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding were spot on, and not over priced. The second night a pal joined me and we dined in the restaurant, which was equally as nice. The waiter was brilliant, as I'd left my hand bag behind (clearly I can't handle 2 glasses of fizz!) and he'd kept it safe for me.Highly recommend this hotel. I went there to spend a couple of days exploring the coastal paths, and the location is perfect...just a 1 mile drive to Burnham Overy Staithe to park up and hike along the beach and pine forest to Wells.Simply stunning. One tiny bit of feedback I would give is that food is served until 9pm....so when I ordered from the bar at 8:45 on the first night...there seemed a little bit of reluctance to take my order, which took the shine off the wonderful welcome I'd had when checking in an hour or so earlier. I felt like I had to bargain a little bit..."go on, it's only fish and chips for one, and it's only 8:45"...Small thing....but little things count 😊

Really nice place and good food. Might just have been with it being Easter Sunday but had to order starters then when eaten those we then had to go back and order mains at that point.Noticed that when desert came it was smaller than a lady whom ordered the exact option also and didn't have any side fruit as did hers?I wouldn't be put off in returning here again though. Just observations that's all.

Excellent service, all the staff are super attentive and friendly. A lot of choice, all delicious. We had the Deli Platter, Sandwich & Truffle Chips. Great options for vegetarians. Lovely seating outside in the sun. 10/10 would go again.

Great meal in pleasant surroundings in a wonderful village to visit before or after. Good range of meals and all large and tasty. The croque-monsieur we’re huge and delicious. There also seem to be rooms in the next door building. Tricky finding parking because the areas so busy but we made it in the end.

Have visited many times over many years, the last few years having been something of a disappointment with average food and atmosphere, the whole place having seeming to have gone to big and corporate. However, we have used the front bar for drinks lately as it’s a lovely place to be. We did this yesterday and decided to stay for Sunday lunch on the advice of a very nice and efficient chap behind the bar. The bar was full so we were taken to a small room off to the side. Have to say the roast was great and they even catered for our puppy who had his own roast! The waiter serving us was very friendly and took time out for a chat. Restored our faith somewhat and will definitely return.

Perhaps staying at a different time in a different room would have gotten a better rating. Sadly lots of improvements. Workmen making noise in the courtyard below our room for much of our stay (not ideal with 2 kids under 2 needing naps). Also our suite kept getting quite stale and gross smelling which I thought might be from our babies nappies or room service plates. Realised on the last day it was the main shower - I'm guessing faulty drainage. The shower in the bath was leaky too. And neither the TV or radio worked when we arrived. Very helpful staff got the TV working. Staff on the whole were great and the food was delicious. A shame about the room needing so much maintenance work and all the noise from outside. When I mentioned this signing out I didn't get much response other than noting it for the maintenance crew. Not much in the way of apology etc.

First day of a 3 night stay. Lovely hotel in beautiful setting. First night’s dinner pretty disappointing. Food ok but service not good at all - forgotten orders including sides that arrived after meal was finished and also wine that arrived when we nearly ready to pay the bill… Dirty glasses standing around everywhere in upstairs lounge for hours plus coffee machine out of order too. Expected much more. Fingers crossed it gets better (and the loud music stops playing at some point - now 21:50 and kids still awake) 🤷🏻‍♂️

I stayed here on my own and was struggling with my anxiety on my trip however The Hoste had a very welcoming environment and I felt really safe! Staff were lovely and kind. Room was beautiful and amazing for the price. I made use of the cinema room in the evening which was a fab bonus. Dinner and Breakfast weren't anything special but was still enjoyable and again staff where lovely and made me feel at ease. I would definitely recommend and consider staying again :)

What a fantastic visit to the Hoste! We visited with our three dogs and couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome. Oliver, the restaurant manager, was so friendly, welcoming and engaging that we immediately felt at ease (including our four legged companions!). The food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful. Thank you to the Hoste for a lovely evening, we would recommend without hesitation!

We ate here for lunch today. The restaurant looks beautiful, very well presented and lovely atmosphere. However was fully booked. Not a problem we were catered for in the bar instead. We ordered the adults beef burger, kids beef burger and the Hoste Lobster roll (£17). Our food was delivered to the table and we were not seen after that. No one checked on us and we had to find our own condiments etc. Sadly the ‘skin on fries’ were a bit tasteless all round, maybe old potatoes. The lobster roll was the most disappointing- crayfish served in a dry hot dog bun with a tiny amount of lobster. Half the roll was left. It most certainly did not warrant the price tag. We had mentally decided on our deserts but sadly decided the place was style over substance so didn’t bother. There are other attractive looking restaurants in the village so we look forward to trying one of those on our next visit.
