The Lord Nelson in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

Great pub with good choice of drinks, great staff but my food was disappointing. Hubby enjoyed his very much. Mine was very bland unfortunately as it was a birthday meal.

We stopped in for a quick lunchtime drink whilst out walking the dogs. Took a lazy glance at the menus and decided to have a small bite to fill a gap, so glad we did.Probably the finest food I’ve eaten in a pub for a very, very long time. I had the house special rarebit, phenomenal doesn’t do it justice. The rest of our group all had the Monkfish scampi which was equally well received.This place deserves to do well, although the remote location means they’ll have their work cut out. Being the birthplace of Lord Nelson will hopefully bring enough visitors throughout the year and word of mouth should see them thrive.Good luck to you all and thanks for a lovely welcome.

This is a great little pub, but I can't help feeling it's lost some of its character after the refit. Don't get me wrong. It's still a lovely location and a great little pub to get a bite to eat.

Our second visit to The Nelson this week.Food always lovely.Waitress running the front of house single handed due to staff illness. She was amazing, attentive and efficient although working under extreme pressure.Thank you for your hard work and hope to return soon.

Folks, this fine pub needs support!!! Lord Nelson lived in the village and frequented the pub.Closed for a number of years, re-opened recently after a very expensive refurbishment and now leased to Woodfordes Brewery of Norfolk.It has been bit hard by the impacts of covid and also omicron over the Christmas holiday period.The food is superb AND I MEAN SUPERB!The staff are excellent, friendly, diligent and attentive; cellared ale is wonderful.Decor is great- a combination of 18thC and contemporary which works really well. It is clean too.Get yourselves down there for lunch, an evening meal or Sunday roast. The roasties are the best pub roasties I have sampled for many years and I don't say that lightly either!So to remind you make a point of visiting soo er rather than later. We need more pubs like this...

Very unwelcoming and a strange atmosphere.We were told it was fully booked so no food for us but there was just one other party of four in the whole place on a Saturday evening.No one else entered in the hour we were there.Therefore, four people is the most they can cater for, it would appear. We saw two staff in the kitchen. So this means one guy cooked the scampi and chips and the other prepared the charcuterie. If they spent as much as they say on the refurbishment it will take a while to break even.

We had a lovely three course meal at The Nelson this evening. The pub has been refitted to an exceptionally high standard and the feel of the place is a brilliant mix of contemporary design but keeping with its historic past, with the addition of a stylish outside patio and a large beer garden perfect for families. We had a selection of plentiful starters ranging from a delicious ham hock terrine with homemade piccalilli to a tasty goat's cheese mousse. Our mains were also impressive and the Nelson's burger is a must. Desserts were great also and the selection of Woodforde's ales and a lovely cider finished off a very tasty and enjoyable evening. We look forward to visiting again and recommend a visit to the local pub which has been thankfully returned to it's former glory.

Went for lunch on Weds 22nd Sept, after a gap of several years, and was impressed by the refurbishment including the patio and garden. The staff were friendly, albeit a little slow off the mark to welcome us and take our order; some additional 'front of house' training would help. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The meals were very tasty and well priced but elements were only warm. Probably the best restaurant/pub fishcakes I've ever had! Would certainly revisit on our return to Norfolk.

Great pub, great food, great service! Went for lunch at The Nelson with my family and we all left with big smiles and full bellies! Fish & chips were as good as I’ve had anywhere - honestly! My wife had the stuffed peppers which were excellent and my 2 sons loved the burgers. We shared 2 puddings between us and both the brownie and the lemon tart were exceptional - a cut above most ‘high end’ pub grub. Prices were very reasonable and service was flawless - Courtney and the rest of the team were very attentive and friendly. I can’t wait to get back back to try more of the menu - I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough!

What a brilliant find! After another epic walk from Holkham to Creake Abbey we back tracked up to Burnham Thorpe, saw Nelson’s birthplace and then found this pub.Place recently renovated and it’s very nice, large back garden and interior, staff really friendly and the food - Seafood share plate was delicious!!!
