Henri's Steakhouse in Maldon

Great service , hot meals for a group of 14 such a change from other places would recommend

Sunday saver essex buses we trekked from Chelmford to Maldon to see Promenade Park, the petting zoo, bit of bird watching over the marshland estuary and then a 10minute walk away from town to this Henri's Grill. (The Henri's that used to be in the Chelmsford Snooker and bowling club was really good). Maybe we were a bit early for beers and lunch as the first girl at the bar didn't seem to know if the food dining area was going to be open soon, but just after 12 a few more families came in and the more experienced bar lady took a lot of us over to the dining area and handed out menus. Burger and Lasagne very tasty, great value £9, of course the chips portion was a little small for that price, and would have liked a bit more variety of lager/cider on tap, but overall definitely do recommend.

The restaurant was well decorated and clean. Had nice atmosphere with the bowling alley to the side of the bar. Service was friendly and fast.Hunters chicken and fish and chips ordered side of garlic bread. presentation was clearly done by someone who cared.Food was very nice and good value. 2 mains, side, beer and a wine for less than £40.Would go back again for sure.

We was in the area and this was the nearest restaurant on the way home so decided to stop and have dinner.When we arrived there was only three tables occupied, one was a large gathering for a celebration of some sort.I ordered the steak and ribs combo which comes with fries, nothing else. The ribs were over cooked and tasted extremely tough. The steak was ok.The restaurant did get busier throughout our visit but I’d definitely wouldn’t recommend the ribs here.The service was good, both waitresses were friendly enough but they were both kept busy.Maybe I have compared this establishment to another well known steak house, but cooking ribs shouldn’t be that much of a task.The music choice and atmosphere was good enough for an enjoyable evening.

Very Very poor. Expensive drinks. £8.60 for a shandy and coke. We had roast, which was warmed from frozen. The potatoes were so hard and I had to leave them. They forgot your desserts, took 40 minutes to arrive. TBF they gave us a free round of drinks but messed up the order for our desserts when we got them and forgot one of our party too.

Went today but restaurant but was closed and was offered the bar menu. Sweet potatie Fries were overcooked and tasted or reheated couldn't tell which but not good. And and the wings were cremated within an inch of their life lol. Didn't eat the cold bun. Kitchen staff couldn't wait to get home. Dont blame them they probably get much better quality food their. Yeah won't be eating the bar menu ever again.

My sister and I treated mum for Mothers Day and was over the moon with the food and service. Starters were fabulous and the carvery was excellant. Great choice of meats and veg which were cooked so well and piping hot. Our waitress was very polite and attentive. Was our first experience but definately not our last. See you again soon!

Very tasty steaks, pretty quiet and not too much atmosphere though. The building that surrounds it has always struggled for an identity. I'd recommend going there for the food if there's a group of you.. you can bring your own atmosphere then.

**AVOID IF YOU'RE THIRSTY/HUNGRY/WANT TO BE SERVED LIKE A REASONABLE PERSON**I have never written a review about a restaurant before (good or bad), however i felt compelled to write one today. I also apologise for the length of this review.I have literally visited 'Henris' and having only arrived there 45 minutes ago, left shortly after.We expected the restaurant to be busy, given it offers a carvery (the reason we were going) and considering we were going at 12:45 on a sunday.Upon arrival, we were greeted by 1 of the the 4 - 6 staff waiting on customers, and the restaurant not busy at all.Given the amount of space throughout the restaurant, we were seated right at the back and were given 2 menus. After waiting 15 minutes for a staff member to come over, despite numerous attempts and looks to get somebodys attention, I was fed up with being ignored (and being thirsty), and went to the bar to ask to place an order. I was then told to wait for a waiter/tress to come over. When i asked how long, i was told "somebody will be over in a minute" I then returned to my table and waited another 5 minutes before totally giving up.Given that the staff members were all standing around chatting, rather than waiting on customers, i had lost the will to wait any longer and not wanting to line the pockets of these morons, we left after 20 minutes without even the offer of a drink. I find this absoloutely disgraceful. Shame on you Henri's.A short walk across the building we went into 'Izumi', and although a little more expensive and not what we ideally wanted on a Sunday, the food and service were 1st class. Worth paying the extra money! Thankfully our sunday wasn't ruined in the end.Thankyou for taking time to read this review.

Nice food. Served in good time and very welcoming people. Steak was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. Bad points are I ordered a kids starter and asked why there isn't an adult's option of it, I was told don't worry I'll make the same as an adult's one, it was exactly two of the child's one but 3x the price. No Wi-Fi in 2017 is unacceptable. The peppercorn sauce is horribly strong.
