Not bad, but can't beat the East End for pie n mash

Wish they would have said NEW OWNERS, The previous owners made perfect pies, they were to die for. Drove from Southend to buy this today got it home one spoonful straight in the BIN. Phoned shop where they told me. Yes they changed owners but nothing changed in term of ingredients. Liars told her food was RUBBISH if I would have lived closer I would have got it out off bin and returned it. My local Turkish cafe could do better pie and mash. So it’s back to CHRIS STREET MARKET WORST PIE & MASH I’VE EVER TRIED

Pie wasn't cooked enough the underneath wa doughy. The two girls working in there are so very miserable, there enough to put you off going in there. All they want to do is hurry up serve you with there miserable faces and go smoke outside. What happened to being greeted with a smile, maybe they should get a job that involves no public..

Grub is top drawer, the deco looks like its straight out of Brick Lane. They also do salted beef from Brick Lane, can't go wrong in my opinion. Good price too.

Best salt beef "beigels" we have had in many a year. We are so glad we were persuaded to take a pot of jellied eels too.

Really great traditional East End food. Great ambiance and great liquor really thick and tasty. Lovely pies, filling really nice, slightly different than you get at Kelly's in the East end but it's good to see them putting their own stamp on it. I loved it. Traditional tiled walls, really felt like I was in Bethnal green. Lovely.

My mum loved Cookes at Dalston junction in the East End as a child. Now veggie and living in Maldon, she introduced me to pie and mash here. We phone in advance and ask for veggie pies to be cooked fresh and really enjoy the basic surroundings and the tasty, but traditional meal - just as it should be. Nothing wrong with this place and the staff have always been helpful and friendly. We have been coming here for years and hope to for many more.

Wish there was an option for one star The pie tasted like burnt dog meat covered in a squishy pastry, that was stuck to the plate. The sauce was not traditional and tasted pretty weak. Mash was only good thing. Daylight robbery.
