We live in the next village and prefer to come here.Always friendly, great homemade fresh food cooked quickly and always hot until the last bit.Friendly and chatty landlord named Vince always makes us feel welcome and locals don't make us feel like we don't belong.Food is plentiful and very well priced. If you want friendly no frills value for money then visit the cricketer's in goldhanger.

Great local pub. We went there last Saterday 3 July after going in the Chequers Inn further down the road, basilcly as it was on the way back from looking for the museum and on the way back from a dead end road (see the review before you go there),WOW! what a difference, yes it may not be so grand but you were welcomed by the landlord as soon as we went in. Very pleasent and the locals all friendly and talkative. We felt very welcome, the food menu was good with everything at £8.50 (that's half the price of the Chequers) We ordered Fish & Chips with beer batter, beer pulled from the pump in front of you. I had Steak & Kidney pudding absolutly great and it was all very nice and filling, oh, and the beer was very good.A proper local pub in the old style and NOT pretentious like the other one.So with the landlord and the natives being friendly we will be visiting there again when we go walking with the dog as its very dog friendly.

Great little free house pub. Lovely lunch menu of pub grub. The land lord was extremely friendly . We were told by some, ladies that lunch , the Sunday lunch was really good too. Entertainment on offer as advertised.

Highly recommended. Excellent food and hospitality. Very quiet with its own car park. Landlord very helpful. With outdoor and indoor tables, felt very safe. Will definitely eat there again when in the area.

A group of about ten of us dropped in unannounced on a Tuesday lunchtime, with all of us ordering food. The landlord said there might be a bit of a wait as we hadn't booked. As it happened there wasn't much of wait and the food was superb.I would heartily recommend this pub.
