First visit last night June 22nd. Bit of a shame it didn't go to plan. Starters never showed up and neither did the salt we asked for. What we eventually ate was well seasonsed and tasty. Service was definitely with a smile despite only getting half the order right. I'd like to think we will go back even just for the tomahawk.

I first discovered The Brewers in 2019 when I went several times alone or with my son when the rest of the family were busy with sports nearby. We started to go as a family on special occasions and the food was always excellent. Today The Brewers still has excellent food.Perhaps a sign of the times, it is more expensive and portions (certainly the starters) smaller than I remember but the quality is still high. The bar menu, having is disappeared for a while is back as the more exciting sounding Gastro Menu, offering a decent fish and chips, burger and a vegetarian risotto for around £15 each. Full restaurant menu offers great options such as starters of Crab with a lemon grass sauce (really good), Asparagus and Egg, Lamb sweetbreads, and Scallop (yep, a singular large scallop) ranging from £9 to £13 each. Main course of Tomahawk steak for 2 people (£80) was huge with the steak cooked to perfection but needed more of the lovely Chimichurri which was barely there. Salt cod was excellent and is recommended. The Trout was good but the squid ink pasta it came with is rich and may not be to everybody's taste.A tasting menu is available for £75 a head with optional wine pairing for another £40 or so.Somehow despite the food being excellent the experience this time didn't have the same sparkle it has had on previous occasions. The service wasn't as sharp as it has been and there were some frustrations: despite it being a warm summers evening the radiators were on making some diners uncomfortable. We also tried to get some bread to mop up the lovely sauces but this was not possible without paying for £6 for portion of focaccia 🤷‍♂️The Brewers is expensive but Sam is a fine chef and you should taste his dishes at least once. Hopefully you'll have a great time.

Honestly the best three course meal we have ever had! Definitely coming back soon

Oh my goodness. My daughter and I just had an amazing meal! 😁 It's not cheap, (2 courses, 1 wine, 1 coke, water and 1 port £100), BUT if you want a treat of the tastebuds or just a treat full stop, get yourself here! It is not pretentious by any standard, staff are very attentive and the spacing in between service and food was perfect. I can't wait to go back again! 😋

We travelled cross-country to get here, so the warm and cozy ambience upon arrival was very welcome. The food was superb and my initial fears that the main course looked a bit lost on the outsized plate were unfounded, once the side dishes and accompaniment were added. The 'missing' star was due to having a couple put right next to us, when the rest of the restaurant was still empty, and our £10 a head prepaid deposit not being initially offset on the final bill. Overall though, thoroughly recommended.

Went with very high expectations for this award winning pub. It was very nice but not probably at the ‘award winning’ standard we were expecting. The starters and desserts were our favourites but the mains lacked a little flavour

My partner and I visited The Brewers back in March for an anniversary. The setting was warm, cosy and inviting. As it was a special occasion we treated ourselves to the tasting menu, and it didn't disappointment! The food was well balanced, beautifully seasoned and had a great combination of flavours and textures. It was all delivered at a very reasonable pace, allowing us to savour and enjoy each course in our leisurely time.Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be returning!!

Absolutely fantastic! Highly reccomended we ordered all but the fish off the menu and everything was delicious. Staff very attentive and friendly. Dog friendly, even brought a blaket to keep the dog warm. Nothing was too much, even made sure that the kitchen knew there was a person with a nut allergy and to ensure no cross contamination when in the kitchen.Absolutely 💯 the best place we've eaten whilst on our stay. Met the chef Sam superb food from such a young chef won an award this year suffolk chef of the year this guy has a hell of a career ahead of him.Dan at the front of house was more than happy to stop and chat with us about the history of the place and reccomended some good local butchers

Fantastic fine dining as well as brilliant pub classics. This pub has gone through failed owner after failed owner but was finally bought by some locals and they have given it the love it deserves. The decor has been rejuvenated and it has a menu to match. There are two sides to the menu. One side has fine dishes such as venison Wellington that really make for a special evening out. This menu changes regularly to match the season so it never gets stale. The other side of the menus has slightly cheaper pub classics such as burger and fish and chips. Don't be fooled by the lower price tag, these dishes still have the same fantastic quality. All in all this was a tired run down village pub that has been rejuvenated into a fantastic gastropub to match the best in the region. It really is a must try.P.S it's dog friendly.
