Always a lovely setting, and good food. But still unfortunately poor service. Sat outside with no service so went in for drinks and asked for menus - they never arrived so went back in to ask again. 20 minutes later our order was taken and food arrived. We were trying to pay but unfortunately still poor service so the poor chef had to go and find someone! I politely asked that the 10% service charge was removed as we did most of the service ourselves, yet again.

Rooms are fab even though they need a little attention to the details. Had a fab meal there too, but a few more veg with the mains would have been nice. Staff friendly and welcoming, couldn't do enough for us to make our stay enjoyable and the location was perfect. Loved the quirkiness of the beautiful building. Would defo stay again.

I've only used the restaurant facilities but on a number of occasions.Good some days disasterous on others. One day a blinding meal in the restaurant.Another day lunch in the bar and the bread was stale. They said I should have complained earlier. I said that they should be checking the food before it's sent out.A Sunday night and the chef burnt his hand. A senior member of staff pitched in with the clearing up. Putting Yorkshire Puddings into a plastic container for use at another time, eating a sample and then putting more into the container, then fingers in the box and eating another one.Bad practice and not what you do when you have an Open Kitchen where customers can see the food preparation taking place. My last experience and the menu is smaller and the prices have gone up.Price increases are to be expected but the food was nothing special.

Went for a meal for a hen party. The setting is lovely and being in the country side you expect flies but there were an awful lot and they were really annoying. The service was good, personally I thought the food was OK but I certainly wouldn't rush back.

Went for dinner and it was delightful. The restaurant had a good environment with an open kitchen, which wasn't noisy at all.The menu was excellent, I could have eaten everything. Also with local produce. The service was efficient and friendly.Prices were good considering quality of food. Will look to visit again when in the area.

This hotel has been renovated to a high standard. The hotel accommodates couples, families and dogs However, we did not hear any noise despite the hotel bring fully booked and seeing guests with children and dogs in the car park and public areas. The rooms, restaurant and bar are furnished tastefully. The linens and towels are top quality and immaculately presented. Nice touches in the rooms and suites includes, Nespresso machines and a coffee menu, small bottles of milk in mini fridge rather than UHT cartons and room service which is responsive and efficient. The staff of all grades in each department were attentive, knowledgeable appropriate to their role and conducted themselves in a quiet respectful manner. The kitchen staff are to be congratulated for an incredible menu and the steaks from the in-house butchery were the best I have tasted and excellent value. The scallops and caviar starter was absolutely fantastic. The room rates are low compared to other hotels and the food and drinks extremely competitively priced. We will definitely be returning and I look forward to a walk in the extensive grounds.

Really disappointed! Bare in mind while reading this we only ate at the restaurant and did not stay at the hotel. We booked for lunch on NYE in advance for a birthday meal, while booking we were told the usual restaurant menu was available as the NYE set menu would only start from 5pm. We arrived and were told this was not the case so we had to make do with the bar menu. The restaurant was absolutely full of smoke like someone was having an indoor BBQ, once returning home we had to wash all out jackets etc because we smelt so bad. We got told the fan in the kitchen had stopped working the day before and that was why!! I’m not exaggerating it was enough to make you cough. There was only two other tables eating and they were not short staffed but they forgot our order twice leaving us waiting ages between meals and drink top ups. We had a large party and spent a lot of money. It would have been nice to be offered a free drink round as a gesture of good will for the absolute shocking service. I hate leaving bad reviews but for such a lovely place you wouldn’t have expected the experience we encountered.
