Nearly 50 years ago, in my late teens, friend John and I would go down to their dusty old warehouse with hundreds of thousands of vinyl and spend a whole day amongst the boxes. How its evolved now. Happy memories

Iām a big advocate of online shopping but thereās nothing that comes close to going into a traditional bookshop which has very knowledgeable staff which are extremely attentive. The vast range of books from used to the latest releases is amazing in this independent store. The store has been at the heat of the local community for many years and will continue to be for many years to come.

Oh my goodness. What an absolute gem! You could get lost in here - for days, never mind hours. Where to start, itās everything a good bookshop should be: a treasure trove, hidden nooks and crannies, places to browse, read with your kids, rekindle a love of anything book related, organised but in a way that draws you in ever deeper and through a constantly changing stream of genre. But Davidās bookshop is on a whole other level: signed copies from notable authors in using Steven Fry and Anthony Horowitz. Lots and lots of second hand books: childrenās books from my childhood, recent copies, antiquarian books, Folio Society books and, just when you think youāve exhausted everything, head upstairs (what, where, I never noticedā¦..). Itās like entering another world - a library from 30 years ago.Oh - and thereās music, vinyl, dvds- a whole section for your audio pleasure. And of course the usual bookshop extras of cards, literary related gifts, all a class above your average high street book store. You think Iām doneā¦. (What youāre not doneā¦ā¦?) Not unless youāve already discovered the games roomā¦.. board games galore, Warhammer, Dungeons and Dragons books and a huge selection of board games.I still fear I havenāt done the place justice. Wonderful staff, easy and swift book ordering, second hand books lining the tops of the shelves to make it feel like youāre entering a revered reading room.I wonāt go on for fear of creating something so long it could have its own price tag.Oh - and you can bring in your unwanted books and trade them for money off vouchers. (You said you were doneā¦.)Thatās it-I promise. (Iām going to hit āpostā before you can waffle in anymore).ā¦.

Phenomenal service. They had just the gift I was looking for and even offered to gift wrap it - which was very elegantly done. Wonderful to find an independent bookshop. Fascinating collection of second hand books.
