The Bird In Hand in North Hertfordshire

Following my visit on 22/1/22, I was left very very disappointed. Cauliflower curry was cold when I cut into it. Asked for the steak to be cooked well done, but was bloody when it arrived. Staying away from this place.

Great village pub, on my last visit the fire was going ...lovely atmosphere, dog friendly and good food !!!

We had a work team lunch today, amazing food and really good value for money. The staff were polite, efficient and very accommodating. This was my first time out for lunch since March 20 and I felt very comfortable. Will definitely be back.

We had a fabulous afternoon with delicious roast dinners with all the trimmings, cask ale, great wines; absolutely fabulous in the beautiful countryside garden with loads of outside tables. Thank you very much Ingrida, Nigel and all the lovely staff. We’ll be booking again soon. Andrew.

Friendly staff and glorious outdoor patio and seating areas in a lovely countryside setting. The pub used to have a cozy traditional interior but it has recently undergone refurbishment and has a minimalist sterile interior. The wood panelling has been painted over and carpets replaced with flooring and harsh lighting installed. The urban style in my opinion does not suit the rural environment but one must move on with the times and appeal to modern taste. however sometimes traditional is best and doesn’t date.

We had Christmas dinner and really enjoyed the hospitality. Good fun with the other guests with a large fantastic big dinner with plenty of time in a relaxed atmosphere. A wonderful experience.

The pub has been decorated and re furbished very well.!!!However the staff not very welcoming, a lesson in customer service would not hurt.The prawn sandwiches had way to much cocktail sauce in, served with a coleslaw, made it uncomplimentary, salad garnish would have been much better. Not a lot of idea really about food preparation..This was very messy to eat and the bread very soggy. I did tell them when left, the only response was raised eyes..Will not go back again.The pub was empty, which speaks volumes..

Very rude!! Had booked a table via groupon as a gift from sister in Australia. Arrived to be barked at by stressed landlord who promptly stated we didn’t have a table as he cancelled everything via email. No apology He was rude to other people too. Very click village pub and only regulars served. Won’t ever be back. No need for rudeness

Visited last Saturday and must say the food was to die for. Fantastic deco and furnished to a very high standard and more importantly very friendly staff they could not do enough to make my visit a pleasant experience. I look forward to my next visit!! . Thank you!
