Staff ignorant. Dining room empty but couldn't sit in there. Ate in a rowdy pub with dogs staring at my food and an infestation of flies everywhere. The ceiling was crawling. Food very poor. Pizza overloaded with cheese no sauce. Extremely hard to eat and digest. Will certainly not be visiting ever again.

We had a reunion lunch for 12. The food was lovely and the staff really good. Would highly recommend.

·

Lovely place - we stayed overnight in the Queen Victoria room, which was massive, stylish, had a very comfortable bed and a lovely bedroom and balcony overlooking a croquet field.Breakfast was delicious too - a couple of bits of tableware weren't clean, so it would feel inaccurate to give 5 stars, but it was really lovely and would absolutely recommend/stay again.

Ordered sandwiches and and waited for one hour for them. No communication from the staff as to why or what was taking so long. Saw an inspector come in as we sat down. Spoke to the girls a couple of times and was overhearing lack of food coming out of kitchen.Spoke with manager in the end as was a bad experience.Sandwiches came out with wrong chips and over cooked.Fire alarm went off when we got our food. No customers or staff said anything or moved.Bad experience, would not recommend going there. And definitely need to work on their commutation.

We stayed here for 1 night and what an amazing place the food is fantastic and the staff are friendly and so helpful. The room was very clean and spacious and the breakfast was fab. We will 100% stay here again

A very pleasant country pub, with decent food. The only thing that stops it being 5 stars is that the seating became rather uncomfortable to sit on after about half an hour.

I've eaten at the British Queen two nights in a row whilst away on business and both nights received a warm welcome, drank well kept ale and eaten simple but delicious food. The menu is limited to a few items that they do very well - this is always my preference over huge over-ambitious menus. Highly recommended!

Went here for the first time last week and unfortunately it was a funeral but the pub is lovely and the staff fantastic. It has a really nice feel to it and a great selection of beers and ales. Only wished I lived nearer to it to enjoy it more. Have not eaten here but the menu looked good too. Oh and had a lovely fire going..you cant beat a real fire in a pub!!

·

Great big open fire inside and out to keep you warm. Excellent real ale. Great food, some of it reared by owner on-site. Great village pub atmosphere..

Their food is great, their service is friendly and the pub itself is beautiful. The prices reflect the quality so we can't always afford to eat here wherever we go out to eat, but we do love coming to the British Queen for food on a special occasion or date, or just for a drink mid walk in the beautiful woods behind the grounds. We're so lucky to have such a nice place in our little village.
