We visited The Vic for some food after a hard day at work. I was hoping to have a relaxing couple of drinks and a bite to eat with our little granddaughter . Upon arrival we were greeted by an older lady with grey hair who was dressed like a 16 year old. She was extremely hostile and rudely spat the word "food" at us from behind the bar. I think this was her way of asking if we would like to eat. Thankfully we had already ordered with somebody else less hostile so managed to avoid her at this point.Once seated, we managed to get a warmer table near a heater outside as it was cold. The same rude woman came over with our food and started aggressively demanding why we had moved the mobile wooden spoon table number and container. We politely explained that firstly we had moved one table over to be closer to the heater and secondly we moved the table number so that there would be no confusion when the food came out. Unfortunately this wasn't quite good enough for the rude waitress and with a face like thunder and dirty looks, She grabbed the wooden spoon table number and the pot it was in and loudly smashed it down onto the table next to us and whilst grumbling loudly so everyone could hear and bringing attention to us sarcastically saying how we had confused her.Truthfully it was just a really nasty experience to go through when all we wanted to do was support a local business and have a nice time. The vibe was so nasty and unpleasant. It really upset me. We were made to feel really unwelcome and couldn't wait to eat our food and leave.

The burgers and scooby snacks were amazing, definitely recommended.

First time visiting the pub, and I can't wait to return. Great chilled, and mixed atmosphere. Had fantastic burgers (one beef and one veggie), with sides of cajun curly fries and siracha chips, but the pizzas looked amazing too.Great selection of drinks - I didn't have one, but looked like they had Leffe on tap.As good a pub I've been to for a while

How have I not been to this pub before?! Wonderful food, friendly and helpful staff. A great outdoor space and the barn is the perfect snug for the cold weather... definitely coming back soon ❤💜💚💙🧡

First visit with the family today and although they were short on staff today we still received great customer to service. Most importantly to add that’s the best burger I’ve had in years! Shall be revisiting for sure! Keep up the good food guys :-)

Love this pub! We come here often with family and friends never disappoints, especially enjoy the margarita pizza 🍕 but have tried burgers too! Always made to feel welcome and Jim and Amy know us by name!

Great pub in Hitchin and the beer garden is beautiful with festoon and stretch tents. The vibe is really relaxed and I always feel welcome whether I'm having a meal with my family or drinks with my friends. Have the dirty sriracha fries, you won't regret it!

Great food (Burgers, pizza's, wings). Friendly staff and just a good place to be. More for ales and lager than craft beers but plenty of other options.

Went for lunch with my partner. We both had the vegan burger. Was not for me but he enjoyed it, was too pasty for my liking. But the scooby snacks were yum and the sriracha chips were really good. Overall still a great place to go eat, staff friendly and drinks fair price. They had a lovely fire going inside, nice and warm. Will try again.

The Victoria, better known as The Vic, is a perfect English pub in Hitchin. Close enough for us to walk to for a drink while staying at a friend's flat at Coopers Yard. They have a great food, specials every night and a well lit up patio so you can even enjoy it at night. There is a private party room you can reserve for special occasions that was being used on our visit. They had advertisements for an upcoming best taco contest for a friendly competition amongst local eateries. The Vic is fun, lively and full of local ambience.
