Backwell Fish Bar in North Norfolk

Very friendly and huge portions - yes, I know I had asked for large fish and chips, but the portions were easily double the size of what I get in London (and significantly cheaper too).I phoned our order in (we were worried they were going to shut as it was near closing time) and the fish was just coming out of the frier as i arrived - perfect!

Very disappointed with my large cod and small chips (nearly £11 so not afraid to charge)... Chips were cold, old and just dreadful; I wonder how long they were sat there for but they CERTAINLY were not fresh. The batter tasted old and was overcooked or the oil was old but whatever, it was dark and hard. The dry, tasteless fish inside was embarrassing... I waited around outside thinking it was going to be fresh but boy was I surprised. That was my occasional take out treat ruined.Definitely going check the food before I leave, IF I go back ...

Friendly service, received huge portion of fish and chips that was not only tasty but very fresh! I used to go to Nailsea for fish and chips but not anymore, I will travel a bit further to get better quality of food!

Great fish and chips, very nice staff too. Order ahead facility is great for busy times. Screens in place and people generally observing social distancing and wearing masks.

Some of the best fish and chips I've had for a long time. Reasonably priced too, fed myself and my wife for £8!

Bought Cod and chips tonight and it was the worst piece of fish I've ever had anywhere. It was wafer thin and so tough even my cat turned away. Really the worst. Also they seem to let people into the shop unmasked. Not good either

We really enjoyed our haddock and chips last night. The fish coating was restaurant quality, not at all greasy and tasted delicious. Chip portions very generous as always so we shared 2 portions between 4 of us.
