"Bolton Bistro is a restaurant that has its origins in The Cliftonville Hotel. Because of the long history of the crabbing industry and fresh seafood this restaurant specialises in exquisite seafood meals with seasonal ingredients. Meat eaters are well catered for with delightful seasonal cuts and this restaurant has the advantage of having a daily specials menu A full vegetarian and some vegan options are available and of course, dietary considerations can be taken into account. The restaurant and hotel have disability friendly access areas and well behaved dogs are allowed. The restaurant has edwardian features with a modern sea mural to add an air of sophistication to your meal. We are sure you will enjoy your stay with us"

I had their Norfolk sausage roll and a flapjack and both were delicious. Polite, friendly and professional staff, and a nice environment 10/10

The pictures on the Internet are out of date, they are serving a reduced menu at the moment (out of season) its not cheap but the food is good quality and offers a good variety even with the smaller offering, it's well situated with sea views the staff are friendly and welcoming although a little inconsistent each not trained to the same level

Refurbished restaurant looks very inviting. We ate in the bar which was comfortable. Very attentive staff. Food was OK. 2 small glasses of Pic Poule cost Β£18.

Used to love this place . The positives:The food was okay for what it was .The bar tender was lovelyPrices reasonable. The negatives:Reception staff in hotel not at all friendly in fact looked up and sneered. It felt awkward...sort of like an old peoples home.Unfortunately not for me any more.I expect a friendly welcome and a hello. I work in hospitality ..Good manners cost nothing.

Had a bit of a mixed experience here. First visit early in the week we had a great meal. I had haddock with mustard mash and it was lovely. The second visit on a Friday fell short. My lamb was over cooked and my partners crab thermidor was a mess. I think it had probably sat on the pass too long. Still the staff were great and comp'd us. The team is probably a bit short on bodies but they really try the best for you. I hope the transition to the new owner will see them better supported in the future.

Came here on the Eat Out To Help Out scheme and had the seabass and half lobster/whole crab mains which were both very nice. The dining area was pretty packed inside but they were good in their Covid-19 measures as all the cutlery and glasses were covered with plastic bags which they ask you to take off and they sanitise the ketchup/mayo bottles in front of you - some may call it over the top, but it's good to know that they are doing their best. The only downside was that the service was a bit wooden at times, but at least it was efficient and pretty fast.

Very fresh seafood. We had a Cliftonville Sharing Seafood Platter Served Chilled (Β£45). The price is reasonable since the sea food's quality is excellent. The seafood was very tasty and the portion suited 2 person perfectly. Among all of the seafood, crab and hot smoked salmon were the best. The salmon doesn't have the horrible fishy smell (Compare to others place). The salmon looks a bit dry from its appearance but actually it was very tender and it wasn't dry at all. The crab was well prepared which they help us to separate the meat from its shell. So we can keep our hands clean at all time. Most of the seafood doesn't seasoned a lot (Just some simple seasoning like salt etc.) which give us the original taste of it. The waiter is quite friendly and the restaurant is cozy. I strongly recommend this restaurant. Never regret visited here. πππππ

After a days work I booked a single place at Boltons Bistro restaurant. As a Google Local Guide, the aspects I most look for are WWW - water, wifi and wait time - and the result for my meal were - Water - yes, brought straight away, Wifi - I had to move from my seat in a corner to get the signal to enter my email, but once in, it was plain sailing, Wait time was 7 minutes 10 sec for the first course and once my plate was cleared a further 4 min 3 sec for my main. I ticked this as very good.My starter was Garlic Butter Poached Crab Claws with Lemon mayonnaise. Think of crab with lemon curd. Personally this was spot on. The main was Slow Roasted Saddle, Seared Lamb Cutlet and Braised Shepherd's Pie with fondant potatoes. The pie came in a ceramic pot and initially I thought it was just mashed pototo. However, a spicy minced meat was underneath. Once again, it tasted delicious. The menu had disappeared early on so I was left to recall what the meal was but I asked for a copy. Meal cost Β£21 with a short glug of wine. Probably a 4.5, but I err on the positive to give it a 5/5. Well worth popping in.
