French's fish and chip shop in North Norfolk

Excellent haddock and chips. Very large fish and the whole meal was piping hot. We ate in. Service very good and tables wiped down and floor swept after each customer left. Would recommend for good quality and taste and crispy batter and chips.

The fish portions were huge and really yummy…light crispy batter. Chips were nice also not as crispy as I personally enjoy them, my other half totally disagrees and loved them though. Not dog friendly inside (totally understandable) but luckily it wasn’t too busy so we could eat on the benches around the quay. Would highly recommend and definitely will visit again!

Gluten free and vegan options available! Such a treat! Haven't had a battered sausage in 2 decades, but finally got to have one again! Cooked fresh to order so does take a little longer, but worth the extra couple of mins wait. Eat in or take away. Has a good selection of items on the menu - fish, sausages, pies and chips.Staff are friendly and accommodating, plus have advice on dietary requirements. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Best chips I’ve had in a long time. Great after a lovely, long beach walk. There can be long queues but can very much see why!

Amazing fish and chips! Have to say the best i have had. Well worth the queue even with it being new year’s eve the quality was excellent… non greasy and hot!It was so good we went back another day, used the app to order and food was ready at the pick up time…

Delicious chips and a vegetarian battered sausage with a pickled egg. Just perfect.This restaurant is currently takeaway only and the queues can really build up but it's worth the wait when you sit on the quayside with your food.The restaurant caters well for vegan and Gluten free options too. Unfortunately this isn't always clear outside as the menu is inside and only visible after you have queued.Edit. I returned this week. Sit down inside is now available again. Limited space but comfortable and clean. Another excellent meal.

Always a treat to visit Wells next the Sea! And, for me, it's a very rare treat to stumble across something as amazingly simple like perfectly cooked... Gluten and dairy Free Fish and Chips! Wow! The clean paper container says it all! Enjoy my gluten intolerant peeps... 👍Oh, and some mention queues! In my experience it means worth waiting...and look at the views!

French's definitely lives up to the hype. The fish was flakey and delicious, the chips was crispy and fluffy and the place itself was in a great location. Portion was huge and I wasn't able to finish it, it's probably best to share. Also, £10 for one portion of fish and chips feels a bit steep, especially when there isn't a smaller option. But overall, would definitely recommend but go on an empty stomach!

If you want good old fashioned fish and chips then French's is the place to go. Excellent portion sizes and tasty chips. The fish is fresh with lovely white flakes and crispy batter. Highly recommend.

Recommended by our cottage landlord, rated in the top 20 UK fish and chip shops. Had to queue for 30+ minutes but the wait was well worth it. Very good portion size and the batter on the fish was sublime matched by the tasty chips.
