We were given a warm greeting on our arrival, and despite being fairly full, they still happily seated us at a table for four despite us not having booked. Service was, friendly and prompt, and the food was really rather good. My wife and my son both had the steak and ale pie with chunky chips, and were delighted. My daughter had ham, egg, and chips (admittedly, getting this right is pretty unremarkable), and I had one of their specials; a chicken shawarma, which was fantastic. The menu is a classic mix of pub grub, plus a few more exotic specials, which are definitely worth checking out.The pub itself does look a little tired, but the gorgeous sea views are undeniable. Definitely worth a look if you're visiting Walcott.

Went there yesterday with family for a carvery. Great view of the sea but such a shame the carvery was probably the worst I have ever had. The roast potato's and parsnips had been deep fat fried, frozen yorkshire puddings, tough meat, no stuffing and no mint sauce.Hopefully it will improve as its such a great location next to the sea.

Had an unexpectedly fantastic meal at the Poachers Pocket this evening. As well as the standard pub grub on the normal menu, there was a specials board with a selection of Mediterranean / middle eastern dishes. I had the best hummus ever, and my husband had the feta salad, and the feta was deliciously soft and creamy. The chicken schwarma was so tasty, and the lamb chops delicious.

Absolutely gutted to be writing this but here goes…… the pub has recently changed hands and is completely different now - and not in a good way sadly. The usually well-kept decking area is scruffy and there are broken plant pots and rubbish strewn around. The car park is now available to anyone who is willing to pay - so pub visitors aren’t guaranteed a space at all. It’s free parking if you’re using the pub but not the point. The new owner is abrupt to the point of being rude, today my husband ordered a pint for himself, a coke for our son and a white coffee for me. The coffee came black and when we asked for milk we’re told “we don’t have milk” but we did get a small packet of cream shoved our way. The ice cubes in the coke were so cloudy they were white rather than see through and made the whole drink taste horrible - my son didn’t finish it because it really didn’t taste nice.We won’t be coming back, we’ve been twice now since the pub changed hands and won’t be back for a third try out. It’s such a shame, the atmosphere here used to be so lovely - and the landlord so friendly and proud of the pub. Can’t imagine the current owners will be here long, not with the appalling customer service and sloppy attitudes.

Having had a roast with my friends here today, I was very impressed with how tasty the roast was and the great service. Would love to visit again if I am ever in the area. Relaxed environment too which makes for a great Sunday meal.

We have just had a fantastic meal for 6 here. Unbelievably good food over a variety of styles. Something to please all! But even better were the staff, especially Leila, who was so attentive, friendly & fun. She really brightened our night! We're having one meal out while we're on holiday & I'm very glad we chose here. It's definitely a winner. I strongly recommend it to anyone

New to the area and just decided to give the new Delivery service a go. It was so nice to just sit down and have a proper meal delivered, and it was yummy. We will return. And yes, I am enjoying my wine. :-) Thank you, Layla.

Had a very special birthday Sunday meal at Poachers Pocket. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The pub is on the beach so great sea views (look out for the seals!). They have sea view chalets that I would love to stay in and we are looking forward to trying the rest of the menu and daily specials. Thank you for a great day!

Lovely outdoor space to enjoy the sea and a beer, Cider and soft drinks with the family. Menu looked great online but we walked there on a Sunday and carveries aren't our choice. Helpful and friendly staff.
