Fantastic traditional pub with great homemade food reasonably priced. Staff were very welcoming and made us feel at home. We ate here three times and stopped for drinks on other days while staying in an Airbnb close by. Would highly recommend.

I had a day off work, the sun was out, so I went on a bimble on the motorbike ("where the road takes me", style) and just happened to see the place, I was told by a regular "it's the best Sunday lunch in the village" I had a lamb roast and a pint of ale (the name escapes me), impressed, I told my dad, and when he also had a day off we both set off, chicken bacon and leek pie with new potatoes, I had the steak and ale cobbler and chips, out came a bowl of veg and gravy, I also had onion rings, portions are not skimped on, didn't even bother the dessert menu, a pint of Wherry topped off the meal.A lovely pub that is also dog friendly and you can get a wheelchair in there as well.

Fast and friendly service, food was excellent. The best Sunday roast we've had in a very long time.

Friendly, family-run pub. Always cosy and welcoming. They provide a limited menu for food, but the food is always well prepared and tasty. They have a good selection of beers and other drinks. If you want to eat, do phone to book as they are often busy. The phone is answered by a real person, not a call centre!

Absolutely fantastic staff, food and accommodations. Vicky is so pleasant and accommodating as is everyone else. Breakfast is complimentary with a room booking. We arrived and had 2 small bottles of wine and large still water. Perfect after a long drive. Happy to recommend the inn and food! Thanks again.

I booked this Inn for dinner on Sunday and it did not disappoint! They have the best beef roast I've ever had - especially their potatoes and cauliflower cheese! Service was fast and friendly, with a lovely atmosphere and great value for money. Highly recommended if you're ever in Wells!

As a regular visitor to wells next to sea, we were very very disappointed with our two day stay at the Bowling Green Inn. The ground floor room we were given was clean and tidy on arrival. The room was very basic. The beds were awful! So hard and uncomfortable, you could actually feel the bed springs. The pillows were also very hard and cheep. My son is 6ft tall and his feet hung over the end of his tiny single bed. Being in a ground floor room, we had no choice but to shut the windows at night. The room got so warm being small and with no ventilation that along with the hard small beds sleeping was almost impossible. The breakfast on first day was ok, very large but quality not great, bacon was microwaved so horrible. Scrambled egg not mixed well. We cancelled the breakfast for the next day and ate elsewhere. We had to return our evening meal two prawn curries due to they were just floating in white thick coconut milk, no curry taste at all! They were uneatable. The waitress came back and told us the manager was trying a new coconut milk and had not tried the dish before serving, hence not realising that it was so thick and creamy with no taste. There was no actual apology from the manager. We were offered a replacement meal but after the dissatisfaction of the first meal decided against anything else. I very very rarely have sent food back as I find it so embarrassing but this time felt I had no option. At the end of the stay you are left a note asking you to strip your own beds and bag up the bedding, not something I would be happy to do on holiday. We also had to empty bin daily and dispose of our litter from the room. This is our honest opinion and I feel this stay was spoilt slightly because of the stay here.
