The Chequers Inn in North Norfolk

This place is just amazing!The rooms are beautifully finished with lots of the little extras that make it feel really special.The whole place feels like it's only just been refurbished and it's filled with high end goods!Welcoming reception who take you to your room.Great cozy bar and lounge area. The restraint however is something else with an open serving area allowing you to see the chefs work. Amazing. And the food was simply delicious!

This is a really quaint little place, good location close to Brancaster beach in a lovely little village. The restaurant and pub area were lovely and really nicely decorated, my only observation was it that it lacked atmosphere. I felt like I was having dinner in a library. I dined between 7-8.30pm on Mothers day and there were 2 other tables in the whole place, they were barely taking and it felt a bit uncomfortable. There were no candles lit ( even though they were on the tables) the fire wasn't on, there were tables left for the whole time I was there with the previous guests dirty dinner plates and glasses and the bar was fully stacked up with dirty glasses. Such a shame as the food is very good and it has the potential to be such a lovely venue. I stayed one of the rooms in the courtyard which was nicely decorated and good value for money overall. Only comments were that the childs bed was basically a sun lounger with a cushion covered in a sheet and not very sturdy or comfy and the bath water only comes out hot or scalding hot so be mindful if travelling with a child. Other than that it was a nice and spacious room. Could have done with a mini fridge, as room gets very hot so would have been good to keep my child's milk and juice cold etc. Overall a nice place.

We stopped for one night at the chequers Inn.Very nice place with very cheerful and helpful staff.Very clean and well decorated rooms.Enjoyed the breakfast they put on.A very enjoyable stay.Only down side for me was that all the lights in our room were the dull type and had to put them all on to really see what you was doing.Really needed some proper bright bulbs in the room.Would definitely go there again though. 😀

Had dinner here. As good a steak and chips as I have ever had (I've had a lot) and my wife thought it was the best roast pork dinner we have ever had. High quality and friendly service.To avoid any confusion this is very much a restaurant rather than a pub in how it feels inside.

Lovely interior, very quiet on Friday lunchtime. Food was good.My husband's Reuben sandwich with fries was excellent.I was disappointed at what I thought was going to be a Crab Salad, it was just a few salad leaves, scattered over my crab on sourdough. The crab was very salty in places & left a strange chemical taste in my mouth.Service was good & the homemade chocolate truffles, served with our espressos, were fab!

We are regular visitors to North Norfolk, eat out regularly, but hadn’t been to the Chequers for sometime so we were looking forward to trying it again. The pub was warm and cosy and we were seated in the bar. We both chose the stone bass (£27) which was excellent- perfectly cooked , hot and very tasty. Sadly the service let it down. I’m always concerned when it’s not obvious who is in charge - the restaurant was busy so a good “ front of house”would have made all the difference. Service was slow from the beginning we were not offered a drink and had to ask for one when ordering our meal . The staff were clearly inexperienced and indifferent and the usual check backs were lacking . We gave up on pudding after waiting for 20 mins. For the price points service needs to be much better . We shan’t rush back which is a shamegiven the quality of the food .

Honestly, one of the very best restaurants I've visited recently. The food was superb. Fairly pricy but you get what you pay for. Drink choice was a little limited.

We really enjoyed our recent stay at The Chequers Inn, and the hospitality of the staff and quality of food and service was faultless. I would like to thank Stephanie for her friendly and kind service which was a refreshing change to the anonymous service we have had at other venues.The only disappointment was the fact that they did not open on a Tuesday.

Stopped in for lunch. It was clean and quiet. Staff were friendly and professional. I had to ask if there was a children's option, as it wasn't on the lunch menu. The menu was slightly limiting; particularly if you do not like lobster salmon. However, when the food did arrive (barely 15 minutes after ordering), it was very, very good. The children's option was good value at £6, and the rib eye steak was perfection on a plate. I would definitely go again, but we were passing through on holiday. That being said, I would have no problem in recommending The Chequers Inn.

We had a fabulous meal here celebrating a special anniversary. The food was excellent I had the best lobster I’ve ever eaten and I have eaten at exceptional sea food restaurants around the world. We felt well looked after and enjoyed the whole experience. Will definitely come back.Decor beautiful and clean. Staff attentive and friendly.
