The Swan Public House in North Norfolk

Lovely traditional pub in a gorgeous location ,great food and service plus a campsite to the rear for 5 pitches with electric next to the river waveney

We stopped in the village whilst on a boating holiday on the Broads, the pub looked lovely externally and we popped in to order a light meal each. My friend opted for the fish finger sandwich and I went for the brisket sandwich. We ordered drinks at the bar and our order was taken by a younger female member of staff. My friend went to find a table outside whilst I waited for the drinks I paid for. I waited at the bar having told the staff member the table number 144, and the details of the order. Other customers were served and no drinks were provided to me. The young woman then asked if she could help me. I answered that perhaps she might like to let me have the drinks that I had ordered and paid for. She didn't make any comment.I took the drinks outside and sat down whilst we waited. The sandwiches arrived, I had a look at mine as it didn't look overly appetizing. The bread was bone dry, the so called pulled brisket was in a dried lump and looked like it had been sat for some time. No evidence of it being moist in any way. A tiny almost egg cup sized dish containing a very small amount of liquid was provide. It contained 2 tsp of liquid at best, I poured it on the dried out meat and it was soaked up immediately. I asked the young female server if it was possible to have some more as it was really, really dry. She went off to ask and never returned. I took the disgusting sandwich back in and the original server was at the bar. I said that I was bringing the food back as it was inedible. She just stared at me blankly and made no effort to engage in conversation whatsoever. Her expression was hidden by a face mask. Not really sure she knew what was going on. Luckily a male staff member was stood next to her and took over. He was very understanding, apologetic and offered a replacement, which I declined. He then issued a refund. This was at roughly 3pm on 29/4/22. Vile food, poor service overall, avoid ordering the brisket sandwich if you like your food to be edible.

Favourite place I’ve eaten in a long while! The location is lovely, right on the water and in a very cute town. The menu was perfect, I’m a pescatarian and have found myself very bored of pub menus recently but this had loads of choice. I went for the fish cakes and they were perfect. My boyfriend had the thai style curry which was also great. If you’re a meat eater I’d recommend the pulled pork burger!The staff were exceptionally lovely. Huge thanks to our server who was tall with curly hair, and the lovely woman behind the bar who sorted a birthday cheesecake surprise for us.They had loads of beer on draught so we’ll be back for a summer time drink outside.

A nice pub right on the broads. We only had drinks here but it's got a lovely garden and fantastic indoor decor. Both the drinks were lovely and around £3 each or so. We had a boat so we moored up outside. The moorings are for customers only which seems reasonable.The member of staff that served us was a little bit snappy and sassy. We weren't really waiting to order yet, just standing back from the bar looking at the menu, firmly in relaxed broads-mode when she asked curtly "inside or outside?" and when we said we'd not decided yet it was obvious from her face that irritated her considerably.

Never had a bad experience here.... wonderful staff...Bar/restaurant manager very professional but with a sense of humour....relaxing and comfortable.....the food always very good...and on winter a real log fire....for 3 of us 2 courses including drinks average around £75..Very good indeed....become quite a regular.

Great location and the staff are very friendly, the food is very reasonable priced and delicious pizza... A perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon with partner, friends or family.. Dogs very welcome too which is a bonus.

Lovely old pub in a beautiful setting right on the river. Rooms were decorated well and very clean. We had a lovely river view. The staff were super friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had to cut our trip short due to ill health and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating to all our requests. Would love to stay again.

I wish there were an option for 6 stars! One of the nicest meals I've had in a pub-type restaurant.The pub itself is beautiful, views of the river, nice spacious tables, warm atmosphere (helped by lovely log fire during a very cold day!) and great service, the staff were all really lovely.The food is just fantastic, was not expecting this when we ordered but it was all fresh made, utterly delicious and like eating the equivalent of a very warm hug! The slow cooked beef and porcini borguignon was rich, melt in the mouth and the dumpling was a fluffy thing of beauty.Highly recommended and wish we lived closer so we could visit more often!

Visited yesterday for Sunday lunch and was blown away! It was our first time there and we both ordered the beef. The portions were enormous, I could barely finish mine. Staff were polite and attentive but not overbearing. We will both definitely be returning - would really recommend

Just got back from a 3 night stay at the Swan inn, had a lovely time. Hotel room was nice and clean fresh towels every day. Check in was quick the staff were lovely and helpful. We didn't have breakfast but the evening meals were nice. Will definitely return.
