Lovely chips! Fish was a bit tasteless & quite greasy! But friendly & fast service! I would go back for chips 100000%

Let’s get this straight, the fish and chips here are lovely. Closest rivals are Wells next to Sea.However, on a couple of occasions I have been left disappointed by the abrupt nature of the waiting staff here - I appreciate it must be stressful and hot working behind the counter and up and down stairs but that shouldn’t affect how you talk to customers when they’re looking to order.I felt bullied into staying on the premises when looking for a suitable place to sit with the one of the staff members bluntly explaining where I could park myself. The downstairs area is also too dark in spots and really needs to brightened up.Ordering off the menu using the QR code there is no content explanation as to the food item and ended up ordering the wrong thing. Which on top of dealing with the waiting staff and sitting in the dark was a bit too much.Great chips, bang average atmosphere.

I normally would not post a review but this was worth talking about. Just moved here recently and wanted to try fish and chips, so I decided to research the best fish and chips shop here and fell upon this place. I decided to order (from home!) the cheeky cod (lol) for my daughter and I, which I do regret doing so now. I actually had read a few reviews on why they gave it a one star but wanted to try it out for myself. So, enough with the rambling...the chips were fine (though I might add thats its not really hard to mess those up) and the batter was good to say the least, but the actual fish was dry and chewy. I am no fish expert but I did start wondering if it was cooked/reheated properly(which also isn't really great), when I couldn't even chew it/break it apart. It was quite disappointing. I would like to give the place the benefit of the doubt and say that they had a bad day or they don't really do well with delivery but...yeah. I don't think I will go again. I would still recommend trying it out though, as they probably got their good reputation for a reason but maybe just have my review in mind.

Still the best place in my opinion to get chips from in Norwich.. Good value for your money if you choose to dine in or take away. Everything it cooked to order.

lovely visit here this evening. I've lived in Norwich all my life and never visited! we sat downstairs and we all had an awesome meal. The ordering and paying couldn't be simpler then they bring food to you on lovely little trays. The chips were great, chilli con chips was a huge hit with our non fish and chip eater! The cod was dark golden, puffy and seriously meaty and the High Sea was a real treatWell done guys, clean tidy, well laid out, good service

Looks as though I was the unlucky one. Good friendly service, decent chips (good variety of potato), tasty batter. But the haddock let you down badly. the way the meat fell off the skin and the pallid sheen suggested it had been out of the water, or more likely, defrosted far too long. It was edible but had none of the distinctive flavour of a fresh haddock, just a dull, bitter aftertaste. I've had worse but not much. I wanted to try Grosvenor for a long time & I expected much better. Ah well, back to the Sheringham Trawler.

Excellent! Food was hot and cooked perfectly. Staff friendly and attentive. Looks small from the street, but the caverns below provide plenty of seating and a great ambiance. Sensible prices. Highly recommended.
